Need advice for buying a record player

So I've bought some vinyl over the years and have never owned a record player.  I'm looking to purchase one, but wanted to get some advice on a decent record player.  I'm not looking to get a high end one, but certainly not looking to buy junk.  Looking for something that doesn't take up a ton of space.  I've been looking on turntable lab, but really have no clue.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Project or rega......their lower models are entry-level audiophile players. $300-$400

    Your system will be only as good as the weakest link but those are two great brands.

    Check out U-Turn Audio.  I loved the model I have (Orbit Plus w Grado Cart), so I bought the basic model for my nephew last Chrismas since he wanted a turntable.
