I don't understand where you get the premise that government is the root cause of corruption - people are. People in social environments have always naturally converged at a form of governance. In addition to this fact that you yourself have admitted is true (i.e. an un-governed nation is not attainable), it is naive and unrealistic to say that somehow with less formal structure, corruption would be absent.

Sad story. But the article doesn't give a lot of detail, but honestly if it was negligent driving, or alcohol involved, I think the family should be responsible for the cost. The article doesn't say what the cause was so I have no idea.

I feel terrible for the child and her family, it's a tragic story. But the article left out a lot of details for that particular part of the story to be relevant. All the article had to do was state it was weather relegated or something, but leaving out any details was suspicious, and my first thought was a 17 year old crashing into a stationary object she was probably on her phone.
My point was as sad as a story as it is, it doesn't seem unreasonable for the owner of the property to seek out compensation, even if the owner is the government. So I don't know why this partilcuar story is relevant here.
Just because you die as a result of a car accident does not relieve you from financial responsibility. What if she crashed into some private property instead of government, and the owners were seeking compensation, would you feel different?

People across all politcal spectrums push for regulation. I don't see more of it with the left than I do the right. I do see the right be totally infatuated with law enforcement, though.

How would your desired ban on abortion be enforced again?
  • HughFreakingDillonHughFreakingDillon Winnipeg Posts: 35,808
The cognitive disconnect with the Progressive Left is that they hate cops but love making regulations. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t micromanage people’s lives without police there, using force, to make people comply with the micromanagement.

and the right love cops but hate regulations (unless it's in the bible), making a cops job virtually impossible, and chaos ensues.

I don't feel like the progressive left hates cops at all. I think they just hate bad cops as well as the systemic corruption and other insidious problems that are undeniably wound into so many forces across the country (Canada too). Meanwhile, the right seem much more willing to basically show support for cops with basically no caveats, aside from the fact that they are happy to tear apart "rats" (which I think it dangerous and destructive).
