None of us know the real details about what happened with Dave A. and Pearl Jam but I'd venture a guess he got screwed, and getting screwed out of 20 years of touring and $$$ would make me livid until the day I die.

I don't know if I'd called in "screwed" but I could definitely see how he would find it difficult. He seemed to be the one guy in the band that liked being super famous. Rumors are that polar opposite from the rest of the band, was one of the things lead to his dismissal.

Imagine being on the top of the world, playing sold out venues, being in a kick ass band, selling out big venues everywhere. You're on top of the world having the time of your life. Then imagine getting fired from that. I'm not going on a limb when I say it was probably heartbreaking. It isn't easy finding success like that. Lightning often doesn't strike twice. To have it, and then have it torn away. That would suck.

So I can see why being invited to attend the RRoH and not nominated would add insult to the wound.

FYI - The report about Dave A not attending the RRHOF ceremony has been retracted and is now 404'd. As of 48 minutes ago on FB to the "Pearl Jam Ten Club Members" group:

"BlastEcho regrets to inform Pearl Jam fans that the story about former member Dave Abbruzzese not agreeing to participate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in April is FALSE. BlastEcho apologizes to Mr. Abbruzzese, Pearl Jam fans and anyone else who was misled by this story. The intent was never "fake news," but rather the result of being duped by someone posing as Mr. Abbruzzese. Our deepest apologies."

One could argue he's getting screwed on hof, but how is he getting screwed by not being in the band?
If it was a b.s. reason for being fired (i.e., Ed wanted Jack all along) then I would be pissed. I do not know the reasons though.
Anyone can get fired from any job for any reason (aside from the few protected reasons...gender, religion, etc). He was not screwed. 4 guys wanted him fired. Doesn't really matter why
I bet it matters why to Dave.
I'm sure it does. But that doesn't mean he's getting screwed
My job can fire me today. It would suck for me. All the value I created in the last 15 months... ffuuudgggeee. But ya know what, if I'm good enough, I'll land on my feet.

Look who thinks he's Jim Jarmusch.

I guess that leads to the old question: Is it art or is it entertainment? And can it be both? Or maybe it's marketing, which is why they stopped.

Honestly. It's Pearl Jam. The band who tried to boycott Ticketmaster by doing an entire tour without Ticketmaster. The band who boycotted an entire state (cancelling a show) because they didn't believe in a specific state law. If the band believes enough in the cause there is something they can do about it. The thing is they fired Dave A., so obviously it's not something they believe in enough to take more drastic measures.

the band didn't win either of those fights...though..

That reminded me of when my job screwed me. The only office job I ever had right out of college. Was there about a year, and we'd get a bonus check 2-3 times a year. The policy was the check was a bonus from higher than expected revenue and divided in proportion to your pay. You did not have to be an employee when the deal or profit was made, just when the checks were written.
I was moving, gave my 2 week notice. The day after I leave they pass out bonus checks!!! The worst was all the checks were dated about a week earlier, but they held on to them so that they would have 1 less person to split it with. I contacted HR, but they didn't care, just said "well the policy is you have to be an employee when they are handed out." They didn't care they were dated a week earlier and withheld until I left.
    Now that is getting screwed.
I completely forgot about that until now....thanks guys.

Any inference taken from PJ's note of DA being inducted is silly. It was made clear from the get-go that only DK & MC would be inducted.

Regarding having to buy a ticket, that's nothing new, Steve Miller had something to say about the RnR HOF Ceremony ticket policies last year:

"Mr. Miller, 72, then turned to the ceremony itself. “When they told me I was inducted they said, ‘You have two tickets — one for your wife and one for yourself. Want another one? It’s $10,000. Sorry, that’s the way it goes,’ ” he said, adding, “What about my band? What about their wives?” "

Yes, that part I understand and knew about. It's the whole part about not actually having heard anything from the band that is weird

Matt Chamberlain politely thanked the band and said he couldn't make it. So either he got a special invitation that Dave didn't or Dave is expecting a special invitation the other drummers did not get.

He never said or implied that he got an invitation above what was posted online. Not saying he didn't, but he never said anything about that. It also would not be a shock if he did have some contact with the band about this and dave did not

Especially considering that line refers to Gene Hackman not deserving a shotgun blast to the face. Not quite the same as a HOF invite.

Global News here in Canada just showed for the first time in YEARS Pearl Jam on TV. What was it about? The drummers & RNRHOF.

I'm confused about the $10k per ticket being floated around as fact.
If a former member were to attend, while not expecting to be honored or receive induction, couldn't they just buy a ticket through stub hub? :|

The 10K is to sit with the band members on the floor at a banquet table. Yes I suppose they could just buy a regular ticket. But the honorees are on the floor.
