    P.R. stunt by the band.
Eddie could get him inducted with a phone call, guaranteed.
The band knew he couldn't make it, that's why they invited him.

These are all Dave A "hot takes" I've read either here or on Facebook in the last 12 hours.

It reminds me a little of the Steven Adler thing from GNR. Instead of bringing him out on tour gets to show up to a few shows and play a song. He really wants to tour, but that's all he gets.

It's probably the same for Dave A. He wants to be inducted and feels that he was a significant part of the bands legacy. Instead of being inducted he gets invited to sit at a table and watch everyone else get inducted?

It's nice the band invited him to attend, but it's not the same thing.

Pearl Jam has no control of who gets inducted. If a simple phone call was all it took, KISS would have inducted more members. Gene Simmons couldn't convince them. Same with many other bands. If there is one thing that is consistent about the HOF, it's pissing inductees off. Whether it's which members get inducted, who inducts them or even how many tickets the bands get to the ceremony, the HOF is very unyielding. Pearl Jam did the only thing they could by inviting all drummers and acknowledging their contribution. Dave said the band should "do the right thing" and I agreed with that request when he made it (though he was whiny about it.) Pearl Jam stepped up, only for Dave to smack them back down. Just shows Dave probably wasn't as innocent in the whole firing scenario as he wants everyone to believe. He should now keep his mouth shut about it.

FYI - The report about Dave A not attending the RRHOF ceremony has been retracted and is now 404'd. As of 48 minutes ago on FB to the "Pearl Jam Ten Club Members" group:

"BlastEcho regrets to inform Pearl Jam fans that the story about former member Dave Abbruzzese not agreeing to participate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in April is FALSE. BlastEcho apologizes to Mr. Abbruzzese, Pearl Jam fans and anyone else who was misled by this story. The intent was never "fake news," but rather the result of being duped by someone posing as Mr. Abbruzzese. Our deepest apologies."

None of us know the real details about what happened with Dave A. and Pearl Jam but I'd venture a guess he got screwed, and getting screwed out of 20 years of touring and $$$ would make me livid until the day I die.

One could argue he's getting screwed on hof, but how is he getting screwed by not being in the band?

If it was a b.s. reason for being fired (i.e., Ed wanted Jack all along) then I would be pissed. I do not know the reasons though.

Anyone can get fired from any job for any reason (aside from the few protected reasons...gender, religion, etc). He was not screwed. 4 guys wanted him fired. Doesn't really matter why

Honestly. It's Pearl Jam. The band who tried to boycott Ticketmaster by doing an entire tour without Ticketmaster. The band who boycotted an entire state (cancelling a show) because they didn't believe in a specific state law. If the band believes enough in the cause there is something they can do about it. The thing is they fired Dave A., so obviously it's not something they believe in enough to take more drastic measures.

How about we resist the urge to speculate about something that happened over 20 years ago since none of us know shit about it?
Be nice if this thread didn't have to be closed.
