Thought it would be cool to share some of the best/favourite Australian albums -
It was very tough, but I've kept my top 10 list to 1 album per artist

Lots of great albums and artist left out of my top 10, but these are my favourites.
Hard to leave out The Angels, Living End, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, Diesel, Easybeats

    That is a very good album - Personally sick to death of Down Under, but enjoy most of their other work. Love Overkill off their second album Cargo

    Regardless of that song, it's a very good album. Down By the Sea is stellar.

    Never been a huge INXS fan. I did like the Kick album, but wasn't into much of their earlier work.

    The very first one that came to mind is You Am I's 'Sound As Ever', still one of my favourite albums. If I made a top 10 list, over half of it would probably be You Am I or Tim Rogers!

    A couple of these have been mentioned already but off the top of my head I'll add:

    OP great thread....It's too hard to narrow it to 10 albums so many great albums have been mentioned, I have to really think about my list. I'm enjoying reading everyone's favorites.

    He's not in my top 10, although I do acknowledge how good he is. The Boatman's Call is great, but I can't say I listen to him that often. My list is based on albums I consistently keep going back to

    yeah i'm a big vines fan. Wish they would tour more, especially in the states. I'll settle for a new album though. Their alst one I thought was one of their best in awhile.

    Also forgot Empire of the Sun- Ice on the Dune

    I would have put The Sleepy Jackson on here, but don't own any of their albums, just a handful of songs off their first album, Lovers.

    totally obsessed

    Was lucky enough to see Paul Kelly tour the Spring and Fall album. Such a great concert. He played the album from start to finish and explained that the concert would be like listening to a record. Side A was falling in Love and Side B was when the relationship encountered problems. After finishing those songs, he did another hour + of his other stuff. One of the best shows I've seen

    D'oh, I forgot all about John Butler and Xavier Rudd!
    I'd go for JBT's 'Sunrise Over Sea' and Xavier's 'Solace' (because it has GBA and Green Spandex on it, my 2 favourite XR songs)

    This is too hard, there are too many great Australian albums! Here's part of my list (limiting to only one album per band)

    Double Allergic- Powderfinger (hardest choice, too many great albums)
    Frogstomp- Silverchair
    Cruel Guards- The Panics
    Ivy & the Big Apples- Spiderbait
    Tea & Sympathy- Bernard Fanning
    The Living End- The Living End
    Making Mirrors- Gotye

    The next three I can't decide on. I have too many favorites including: Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit- Courtney Barnett; Breed Obsession- Gyroscope; Birds of Tokyo- Birds of Tokyo; Hourly Daily- You am I; Kick- INXS, Positions- Gang of Youths; Leave your soul to Science- Something for Kate; Chimneys Afire- Josh Pyke; Awake is the New Sleep- Ben Lee; Moo you Bloody Choir- Augie March; Temple of Low Men- Crowded House; Guide to Better Living-Grinspoon; Gravity Won't Get You High- The Grates; Highway to Hell- ACDC. I was also recently introduced to Karnivool and I'm loving Themata and Sound Awake. Oh I forgot Tough Love -Magic Dirt. I'm sure I've forgotten many others.

    Yep. Drapht was one. And I think you mentioned 360 which is, in turn, how I discovered Gossling. I'd love to see her if she ever comes to the States.

    Yep. Drapht was one. And I think you mentioned 360 which is, in turn, how I discovered Gossling. I'd love to see her if she ever comes to the States.
    I'm not sure what she's up to, I haven't heard anything about her for a while. She's going to be at Melbourne's comedy festival in April...If you fancy a trip to Australia :wink:

    Wow - thanks for that. I wasn't lucky enough to see him in a venue that small, it was at QPAC in Brisbane, which is a great venue for sound.

    He is our greatest storyteller, and has such a calmness about him. For as good as he is, I think he is massively under rated and under appreciated by the majority
