As intolerant as I am of the creeps we refer to in this thread... I always pause when discussing Polanski.

His ordeal before his discretion was out of this world and not that it is an excuse, but his 'victim' doesn't claim to be a victim.

Led Zeppelin dominates the Lounge thread. Do people know Page and Plant's history?

I agree. That is my outlook when it comes to Polanski. He wasn't a predator. It was a different time in a different world with a willing participant who is not a victim. I don't care about the Polanski thing at all. And I love his movies.
Woody Allen appears to be a sicko though (he also makes good movies).
A 44 year old man with a ton of influence giving booze and drugs to have sex with a 13 old makes her a willing participant?

And why would a willing participant sue Polanski for sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and seduction?

    Hmm ...
Different time, different world. I trust the woman who has spoken for herself about this. She has stated that she wasn't a victim. Meh.
Probably a part of the settlement.

Are you suggesting it was acceptable for 44 year old guys to seduce 13 year old girls in 1977. What are your thoughts on Cosby? Was he just rolling with the times?
No, I'm not making any blanket statement here. I just feel this way about this particular case because of the very specific circumstances with these particular people.

I think what Polanski went through with the death of his wife and unborn child was horrific. I still can't give him a pass for what happened though. I may not lump him in the same category as Allen, who I think is despicable, but I still think what he did was wrong. A deciding factor for me was reading the girl's testimony (at the time, not what she says now) about what happened. A transcript of it used to be at the Smoking Gun website. I don't know if it's still there.

Ironically, because of the times, if he'd stayed he'd probably have received a relatively light sentence, something that wouldn't happen today.

This reminds me of a Wambaugh book I read.
The LAPD designated one detective who had to watch all the child porn and snuff films confiscated in order to be able to determine who were the actors, victims, etc.
    Everybody stayed away from him.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

    I forgot about this author.

We used to read all his stuff in the mid to late 80s.

    Is that a true story?

He worked in the LAPD for almost 20 yrs (give or take). He used a lot of real scenarios even in his fiction. Basically, I have no idea.

I think what these people do, how they manipulate and prey upon those too young to fully get it, far outweigh on the disgusting side vs talking about it.

    Please keep talking about it.

Maybe it'll ease (or even remove?!) the stigma and sense of blame many place on those who've been subjected to such...sick fucks.

Also I did a bunch of research after Corey Feldman said this stuff, and allegedly Charlie Sheen is who he was talking about raping Corey Haim...I Imagine the same people involved in the Franklin scandal could be involved with the Hollywood Pedo ring, or closely related...

It's important with really hard laws/punishments against these kind of crimes they should also be castrated and sterilized.

Pizzagate is proving that pedos might be global and not limited to Hollywood.
If you have the stomach, do look into the elite socio-political connections.

Feldman said he believed Haim’s alleged abuser is part of a wider network of people who shield each other from exposure, and it was “probably connected to something bigger and that is probably how he has remained protected for all these years.”

Man, I've never found the genius in dylan. Can't stand to listen to him. I understand why people like him. But if he's a genius, what's vedder? Or Lennon? Or Hendrix? Gods?

Not a Dylan fan at all, nor am I a Beatles fan, BUT i respect their place in music
