I don't think reds count as a baseball team. Maybe little league.

    Go Indians.

You gotta love Cleveland. Last time I was there I was fueling up in a gas station, late evening and this guy comes charging in next to the next fuel pump over and almost skids to a stop. He's a hefty guy, disheveled hair, kind of a wild look in his eye and is driving a beat up older piece of Detroit steel. He jumps out, runs over to me and says, "Hey man! Hey, I saw your Cali plates! Great! Hey man, you gotta get me a Padres T-shit, PLEASE!" He rummages through some trash in the front seat for a pencil stub and a scrap of paper, scampers back over to me and jots down his name and address. "You gotta send it here, PLEASE! A PADRES T-SHIRT!"

A few weeks later when we arrived back home I went on line and had a Padres T-shirt sent to him. What else could I do?

Gonna be one hell of a Series! I wouldn't want this WS against any other team! The Indians are incredible, but go Cubs go!

I dont see them winning the series unless salazar and bauer are both ready and capable.

Games in wrigley will be cool to see how francona works the bullpen without the dh.

Jesus, this guy. How in the hell can you call yourself a true fan of anything? Whatever team is in the championship game is robs favorite team.

right in between...Columbus area.....tho my first ever MLB game was Reds/Giants.....the Giants put a huge beatdown on the Reds and I've been a Giants fan ever since. I hated the Big Red Machine. they're OK, now.

no can do, Scott. Congrats to your Cubs, tho. Kicking the d**gers to the curb is never a bad thing.

I don't see how the indians can compete in this thing but I sure hope they do. they've already taken down a couple of powerhouse teams, so who knows? Tickets should be crazy expensive in both parks.

the Tribe have some slick fielders....hope the patchwork rotation can keep the cubs down and I hope the all or nothing bats have more all than nothing.

One guy paid $98,000.00 for 4 tickets right behind the Cubs dugout for game 7. Must have Vedder money.

The average ticket for the games at Wrigley are over $3,000.00

I hate to break it to you Wobbie (and I'm not trying to hijack your OFF-I-CAL Indians thread) but other than a small pocket of Ohio along Lake Erie, America is firmly rooting for the Cubs.

When was the last time Cleveland was in the WS?

1997 was the last time Cleveland was in the WS. They lost to the Marlins. The last time they won a WS was 1948.

But of course for the Cubs, its been even longer. Last time in WS was 1945. Last time they won the WS was 1908.

It's a tough call for me. Chicago has a longer dry spell and is a great town but they never learned to burn a river like Cleveland, nor have crazy Padres fans like my gas station dude or (to my knowledge) have had a band quite as wonderfully weird as Pere Ubu. So its a close call for me.

Crazy to me that no one seems to be giving Cleveland a chance. Home field advantage and a lights out bullpen are huge advantages for the Tribe. Should be a really good series.

agreed. Though the stars really seem to be aligning for the Cubs, the Indians could certainly win this series. This of course would bring a whole new level of angst to Cubs fans everywhere.

That's what I thought. That was a really weird series. Snowing in Cleveland, 2 nights later playing in Florida in short sleeves. Orel Hershiser's pitching used to piss me off.

yeah, but position by position I'm not sure where the Indians have an advantage....RF, yes, and maybe SS and catcher.

Indians NEED to take game 1. I could see the cubs coming back from a game 1 defeat but not the Tribe.
