I'd love to find out if there's a way to store 10-15 posters of varying sizes (which don't fit in the 18x24 portfolio) for under $50.

How are people storing the Ken Taylor Wrigley poster? It's a little too long to fit in the sleeves of my Stein design picturesque 24x36 portfolio and I don't want to roll it for storage.

That's strange. The Taylor fit in my Picturesque Presentation Case in the 24 x 36 sleeve.

It sticks out about 1/4 of an inch from the sleeve. It fits in the book, but not protected by the sleeve, it's just asking for the edge to get ruined...

    Matt

I just chatted with someone at Jerry's Artarama website and was advised they will have refills sometimes in MARCH. They do have a case that has 5 sleeves for a decent price if anyone is interested.

OK, FU to the person who said they weren't going to carry them anymore and giving me a heart attack lol. I contacted them, sounds like they will be restocking at some point, just not sure when. I can wait a little longer...

    Response from Jerry's:
We encountered a number of complaints recently that the inserts do not actually fit inside the case. Because of this, we are currently looking into getting a new manufacturer or vendor for these items. We do not have a tentative restock date yet, unfortunately, but hope to be back soon with even better product!

Does someone have a link to a 24 by 36 portfolio AND refill pages (as I think most portfolios come with 4 or 5 pages)?

Also does anyone know how many pages a portfolio will hold?

I plan on storing my prints back to back with something between the two - like non-acid paper or something.....

    Thanks!

You can't get refill pages at the moment, so not sure if you should get the portfolio now. It only comes with 5 pages (10 posters)

They hold 40 pages (80 posters)
The 24 x 36 refills won't be available until March
They're out of stock on th 18 x 24 portfolio right now also.

    I did find 18 x 24 refills @ Amazon that fit just fine, but no 24 x 26 yet.

I reached out to Jerry's Artarama regarding 24x36 portfolio with the inserts (where you can turn pages). Here is what I was told via Live Chat (fyi)

    Me
I have a question on one item: Picturesque Presentation Case 24X36 In Item 75149
A lot of people who collect music / concert posters / art work are saying this item (#75149) is no longer ever going to be available and some saying something different.

    Alex
My apologies we do not currently carry that item or the refills, they were not going to be back into stock until later next year (around March of 2017) and our supervisors took them down in order to avoid confusion. We had to get a new manufacturer for the items, and they are improving the quality on them which is taking so much time. They are supposed to come back into stock, but the earliest would be around that time.

    Me:
So if I understand you correctly you are confident you will get this item at some point - in the next 6 months or so?
Is this like Dumb and Dumberer, "So you are saying there's a chance?" or is this pretty iron clad?

    Alex
From what we've been told, yes. There was just some major quality issues, and they are testing a new manufacturer to see if they can correct it, if not they have another one they are planning to use but it has to meet our company owners standard.

Honestly my portfolio from them is terrible. Both of the zippers ripped off with ease. The binder clips/circles/whatever they're called that hold the page don't close together all the way. The refill pages get caught and rip and do not even fit properly with the binder clips.

I have 2 24x36 portfolios. Both are basically full with additional inserts and I have has no problem with them. But i am sure like all things, some duds get out.
  • Although probably not as simple to use and store as the portfolio, I've found that Bags Unlimited has a great selection for storage (https://www.bagsunlimited.com/c-433-prints-poster.aspx). With no large portfolio available, I've gone with sleeves, foam-core board, and store them inside the blue-grey drop front boxes.

Michaels and JoAnn both carry art portfolios--though they mainly cater to fine art, rather than poster art presentation folios.

It's also worth keeping any eye on these sites:
    http://www.artprofolio.com/

Bags Unlimited is local for me. Their hours are tough for me to get into their shop, but they do sell high-quality items.
Having said all that, I still use a broadart box for my prints.

I always wondered if there's any kind of danger to having a lot of prints stored/stacked flat?

I really should invest in a flat file but I just don't have the room.

I currently store my oversize posters between two pieces of acid-free foam board laid flat. It works for now, but I would like a better method eventually.

I put my flat file under my bed. So much better than having 20 poster tubes laying around like I used to have.

For anyone that has a 24x36 portfolio (where you can turn the pages), do you ever bend the print or are fearful of doing so? My wife and I on the fence about waiting until March for the Jerry's 24x36 but also considering buying a portfolio and also purchasing sleeves or holders and storing posters there. Only down side is it is not like a "book" where you can turn pages and see the print.

Thanks for any advice. And thanks for the feedback above

I'd say that I'm not fearful of any damage to the print when flipping through my 24x36 portfolio from Jerry's. I will echo the above in that there are some problems with the binders, many tend to pop out of the pages as you flip. It's certainly not perfect, the quality leaves something to be desired (I too had probs with the zipper coming off, returned my first portfolio), however all negatives aside I think it's still the best option for posters. I find myself actually looking at my prints every few months, where as previously it was just too much fuss. Think of it as an extremely awkward, large coffee table book, but hey, beats a tube or other storage method where you can't easily view your beauties every now and again.

Sucks to hear about the wait at Jerry's, however it's encouraging that they're looking at the quality issues. Now if anyone has any extra 24X36 pages, hit me up!
