Give it to the kid ya fuck

I was the owner of "the kid". He had a blast but was mostly in awe all night. His first show so next time he'll be able to rock the hell out.

So thankful for the people looking out for us all night! Like 95% of the people around us were amazing. A couple of drunk elbows to his face were probably to be expected so he definitely earned his tambourine! Hell, an 11 year old standing anywhere for 5+ hours deserves something.

He is still talking about it and was shocked to actually be so close to the band. Even if he doesn't know who Sting or Cheap Trick are. And he's already asking me when the boot will come out!

Also, anyone have any good pictures from stones side of the pit? I was a bit too busy trying to take care of him and rock out at the same time I didn't take many.

Hey dude, glad you posted cause as you are "the dad" of "the kid" , I am "the fuck".. Yup, instant fame, although not the kind I was lookin for..hahha. I did not arrive at the show as the fuck or by any means intend to leave the show as the fuck but as I'm reading here, fanview included (dammit) and ,so I'm told, on Facebook and other places (still waiting for the Rolling Stone review) i am officially now "the fuck". So I'll try to keep this short but I gotta air it out a little. I'll start with an apology, for any elbows or stepped on toes, I like to dance and sing and bounce around. You guys were behind me and my 3 friends were in front of me , everybody definitely energized by a crazy set and bein that close to the action so again, if that did happen, my apologies. As for the tambourine though, gotta be honest, i had no idea it was for him. I may have been watching Mike across the stage or Jeff, I'm not even sure, all happened in a blink but I can 100% honestly say I did not hear Eddie utter the words "this is for the kid".. when I saw it on YouTube the next day I was like oh shit.. Just a moment in time, saw a tambourine flying , grabbed it, didn't know it was for the kid but I was quickly made aware as you know,, lol. And to clear another thing up I was not drunk, as some people claim. Maybe punch drunk after waiting 14 hours on the street, hallway, pit, (all worth it btw) but I was dd back to NJ, didn't have a sip of alcohol the entire time. But regardless, I've been to enough shows, was my 34th including most Nj/NY area gigs since '96 everything from Randall's Island in the rain, to Robinhood Foundation to Eddie solo at the NJ Pac, road trips plane rides, the point is i've been to enough shows to know what a foul is and clearly this appeared to be and I guess I hafta even take it as one cause it happened but I'd call it more like a reach in foul than a flagrant. Maybe even a double technical considering the lumps I'm takin online the past few days and the endless texts: you fuck, you fucka, etc. It's funny and all good in the end, I'll go back in hiding till Fenway, but let the record show I would never knowingly steal or take a tambourine, a guitar pic, a bicycle, a basketball, a bottle of wine or anything else that Ed throws off stage to a little kid, that's not me, that's not cool, seems so fukin simple now, doesn't it. Peace

P.s. Blindmelonade , glad the little guy got his tambourine. Memory for a lifetime
I knew what I was bringing the kid into and I made sure he knew as well. I also didn't know ed cursed at you until after when my friends told me. I thought the tambourine fell and you just went to pick it up for him. Which totally could have been the case, it's all a daze to me right now.

But anyway. You're going to fenway? Me too. Seems like I owe you a drink!
Still workin on tix for Fenway but planning on going, will keep in touch. Glad all is cool, will def take you up on that drink. Have a feeling Fenway's gonna be one hell of a party. Maybe No Code straight through... Binaural last nite.. wow.

    Quick unsolicited note.

It’s easy to get lost in the show ranking rabbit hole in hindsight and lose sight of how enthralling each show is in the moment. Despite having seen two amazing covers at this show accompanied by Sting (!) and Cheap Trick (!) I had seen everything else they performed that night previously. A common thread on these boards is that the band is somehow responsible for fans’ personal set list stats. Even if there was any blame to be assigned for them only playing 31 songs over 3 hours, it would be mine for having already seen 14 amazing shows and being greedy enough to want more.

So why am I bothering to share this?

I brought a friend who had never seen a Pearl Jam show. From the moment Corduroy began he was blown away by both the energy from the band and the crowd. He learned to play guitar by playing along to Black and if there was any disappointment that it was not played you’d never know it. He was just in awe seeing Mike McCready live, finally experiencing Pearl Jam and said the show was absolutely one of the best he’d ever seen.

That guy got to see 31 songs for the first time. Every show is someone’s first.

I loved every minute of this show.

Are some shows better than others? Sure.

Have I yet to be disappointed by a show? Nope.

Video below from one the few calm moments from the evening.

Cheap Trick and Sting appearance? 1st night energy was great but a warm-up compared to 2nd.

Also captured these pics from my seat. Something about EV's stance and swagger in front of that PJ-craving crowd made this look so powerful to me.

Have been to many shows and i was also blown away by the energy/synergy of the band & crowd

Far from disappointed, especially when the band is giving us everything they've got and more.

    Totally agree DoinOk, well said

Have both bootlegs already. Even though it was 20 mins shorter than night 1, MSG 2 to my ears was the winner and by a pretty wide margin. Setlist, performance, flow, energy. All of it.

The energy felt way higher in MSG2 to me also. I assumed it was because I was up in the rafters for MSG1, where I had 10C tix for MSG2. Maybe it was more than that.

I'm looking for decent photos of both MSG setlists so I can just print them and hang them in my office. Nothing hi-def or crazy, was hoping to hang them in my office to stare at while I daydream at work. Can anybody help me?

little late on this but I was one of those hundred at the show Ed talked about before dedicating Sirens to one of my great friends Tom Rorke. None of us really knew that he was gonna do that, but it really meant the world to his family and friends. Cant explain the chills when Ed said his name .Tom was one of the biggest PJ fans I knew and he was definitely going nuts looking down at that show. His birthday is August 7th and a whole bunch of us are going to the Fenway show that night. Would be great if you guys can spread the word see if we can get another song dedicated to him (Come Back ????) RIP THR and thank you PJ again for honoring such a great kid and diehard fan.

The show was amazing, but man after hearing the boots a few times I'm falling more in love with how great the setlist was for both MSG nights.

No doubt, each show had a little bit of magic. Take the opening set of night 1 and combine that with the encore of night 2 and you have a perfect show.

5/1 and 5/2 were my first Pearl Jam shows ever. I am a major live music guy and have seen all sorts of bands big and small over many years, but for whatever reason had never made it to a PJ show. I was absolutely blown away by how good it was and going both nights was great - it seemed like one long show/party :-). The live experience takes their music to a whole other level incorporating their personalities and crowd interactions. I can't wait to see them again!

LOOKING FOR TIX TO MSG NIGHT 2

My wife and I drove in from NJ and headed right to the box office to get her tickets after parking. She let her 190xxx membership lapse years ago and only rejoined this year so we weren't expecting anything too close. We were just happy to be in the building. Needless to say, we were blown away when she got her tickets and saw they were front row center floor seats directly behind GA. We were smiling ear to ear. We found our seats and had a blast being so close. It was cool to have the rail to lean on and I was hoping Mike might pass in front of us during Alive like I saw him do from the 200 level the night before. The crowd in our section was extremely energetic and nobody was acting like an idiot. I thought the band and the crowd were on fire. After seeing the two Philly shows and the first MSG show, I wouldn't have minded them mixing it up a little more but I was glad my wife got to hear many of her favorites. The night went from great to amazing during Porch. We watched Ed make his way off the stage and I assumed he was going to wade into the GA crowd up front like he usually does to finish the song. But he kept walking and ended up making the turn into the walkway that separated GA from the floor seats. People were slapping hands with him as he walked by and me and my wife were leaning forward ready to take our turn. I got confused when he stopped right in front of us and I wasn't sure what was going on. But then Ed proceeded to climb up the rail directly in front of us. We were holding his arms as he climbed onto the rail and then one of the security guys from the band told us to hold his legs as he stepped onto the top of the rail. Ed belted out the rest of the song standing over us as we braced his legs. I was little concerned he was going to fall at one point. And then he hopped off and headed back to the stage to finish it up. It all happened so fast that it didn't seem real. I never expected him to make his way halfway out across the floor and never in a million years did we expect Ed to end up singing in front of our faces. Amazing. We even got Mike walking right in front of us later during his Alive solo too. Still riding the high from the show and so thankful to the ten club for hooking us up with great seats.
