They're actually in the middle of a two-leg North America tour right now. They finished the first leg already, are playing with the Foos for a bit now, and starting the second leg of their NA tour at the end of September. I'm not sure if they already headlined in Calgary or not. They played Vancouver back in May.

Not liking the new song too much. It's not bad, it's just that it sounds the same as any given song from their first album. Is this band a one trick pony?

Maybe it was a leftover track from their first album.

That really doesn't make me feel better about it, lol. Still sounds like the same stuff, which doesn't work for a NEW album. Doesn't really matter when it was written IMO.

    They are great live though.

it is for a TV show. like Cornell, they have to dumb it down for the masses (Soundgarden admitted Live To Rise was written/arranged intentionally with a radio sound in mind). no big musical departures/risks are ever on soundtracks.

I didn't even realize it was for a soundtrack. I thought it was a single from their new album. If it's only for a soundtrack, I take it back and will wait to hear something from the album!

for the HBO show Vinyl. Cornell also has a song on there. and it's a generic sounding song too.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about these guys, lol. They put on a great show, but I just haven't heard a peep out of them since I saw them in... 2014? 2015? (I do know I got just TRASHED at their show for some reason ... If they come again I will stay sober, lol). Cool they're releasing a new album - I hope it's good and that it isn't too similar to the first one (which was good - I just like variety from bands). That album teaser really doesn't reveal anything at all.

someone posted on social media a while back that they noticed in a pic of the studio the band has posted that they had keyboards set up, so they might be altering their sound a bit. or it could mean nothing.
