Do you find any stereo imaging issues by using a center channel speaker in your listening /billiard room? It seems like vinyl would always sound better without a center speaker. I would love to hear about your experience with that setup.

I don't use the center for music. I have a TV up there too so it's where we watch movies when we want to blast them. I don't like using the center for music, like in 7.1/5.1. It messes with the imaging to me. With excellent imaging, you can feel the music pull to center in a 2 channel setup.
Now there are a few listening settings I use that are 4 channel. It's supposed to be 5 but I kill the center so I only hear it from the front and some presence sounds behind me.
So yes, you are right. Vinyl, HI Res, FLAC etc all sound more natural in true 2 channel (I also kill the sub two as my fronts are 'Large').

Thanks for the explanation. I have tried to enjoy music listening on my home theater system but it just doesn't sound right.

Yeah, it's artificially loud, which can fool people

Anyone ever check out a Dual 1229? I have a line on one for cheap but it probably needs a thorough cleaning and lube.

I have a 1019 that sounds like a million bucks.

    Thoughts?

Marantz 6100 with Nagaoka MP-110 > Marantz 2220b > Klipsch Forte with Bob Crites crossovers.
