Wrigley GA and reserved last time around? How was it?

I read that the Wrigley GA last time around was a lot more crowded than what is typical. Anyone that was there care to comment on their Wrigley GA experience? What about reserved Wrigley seats? Were they decent or just too damn far back from the stage?

there was plenty of room in the wrigley ga if you weren't trying to get up front. i was straight back from ed, about 10-15 feet from the rear of the ga fencing and both the lady and i had plenty of wiggle room. everyone was cool/chill back there, too.

I won in the lottery, reserved seats, and sat on the field 9 rows dead center behind the GA section. Awesome experience, of course we had to do the "Evacuation" when the storms hit. Spent quality time in the bowels of Wrigley, under the bleachers, until the storms passed. Cannot comment about reserved seats in the stands but I hope to get another opportunity this time around. I generally do not post here but am a long time fan, 60+ shows since '94.

Can someone further clarify how the GA people were let in to the field? Was it a free for all, all at once, or was there some order to it? If so, how was the order established - strictly by when you line up at the gate?
    Thanks

We were in the lower bowl, I am a number 460. I was happy with our location even if we felt a little too far away to be totally connected to the show. I think this was the hottest day I ever experienced in my whole life, so i was happy to also have the opportunity to sit in between. During the storm, we had a nice passage way to the outside and spent the heavier portions by the trash compactor, not in the cramped areas with other people.

GA is pretty big, and even if you didn't line up there's plenty of padding between the back of that section and the reserved seats in front of it. And no matter what they're still the best spots since reserved start behind it.

I'm 265k and got reserved seats in the middle of the field (between stage and lower bowl seats).

I had GA tix and arrived about 30 min after doors opened, so can't really comment about the lineup outside, but we got on the field right by home plate. I was about 10-15 rows back in front of ed, until the rain came. As they were making us leave the field, me and my friend just wandered around in ga, while security was dealing with all the drunken idiots. So we were one of the last ones out, and just hung out right on the bullpen mounds, and the gate they were letting every back onto the field through. I can tell you after they let us back in everyone ran like hell, We ended up on the rail between jeff and ed, so thanks rain.

I was in GA... not too bad. Lots of room could get in the middle - middle without being too crowded.

I didn't watch the initial wave of people being allowed into the GA before the show but if it was anything like the rush of people being allowed into the GA after the rain delay it's essentially a free for all. This isn't a venue where lining up for 24-48 hours prior will ensure front row dead center on the rail.

Not that it matters really. At the last Wrigley show I was basically at the back of the GA and would estimate I was 15-20 yards away from the stage with a perfect view down the middle. After the rain delay Judd Apatow was standing next to me the entire time.

I was in the lower bowl 491xxx and had pretty decent seats - the view was perfectly fine. When the storm hit we were pretty much protected from worst of it and could stay in our seats whilst the beer sellers came to us. I am short so I usually go for seats and I didnt feel too far removed from the stage. Re the GA after the storm it was chaos watching everyone stream back in.

Go to wrigley if you enjoy live music. Don't go if you have a need to be seen by the band.

So were the upper and lower seats pretty far away from the stage, like disappointingly far away? Thanks to all the above posters for the info as I'm trying to figure out if it's worth a plane flight and a lot of my savings to treak out to the Windy City for the two shows in August.

This sums Wrigley up perfectly....go because it is PJ at Wrigley in Chicago.

The whole of the experience is the event itself, not the proximity to the stage!

You go for the experience. But you'll tend to watch the screens more than the actual band. Still, seeing the sunset at Wrigley, hearing the guy sell bottle water for $1, seeing Ed smile when he comes out and gets transported back to when he was a kid, seeing the Cubby Bear where Dave Grohl attended his first show, etc... does it really matter where you sit when you get to experience something around every corner?

I was first row of the lower bowl somewhere around first base. Sound was better than I would have thought but it was too far away to see anything without the screens. Glad I went but I have no desire to do it again. If I was local I'd go.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
