Ummmmm, lets see.....back in 2008 I parked outside of that arena for the Clemson/UVA football game.
Loved that trip to Charlottesville. Such a nice area. But colllldddd. 30 degrees at kickoff.
    Ok, that's my contribution :)

Hey fellow Virginians (or visitors on 10/29),

To keep you partially satisfied, here is the first hour of the show in perfect audio, multi-cam. It's not the best M/C work because as you all know, JPJ was pretty tough on the search when we entered. So not a ton of video out there. I'm working on the 2nd two hours of the show now and should be done in a week or so. I've made some good traction recently. I haven't done any QA on it, just published, so if you see synch issues, let me know.

    mrussel1,

Awesome job! Particularly tough job due to limited source material for sure. I too was stunned how little videos there were on youtube after the show. I have to say it may have been another reason the show was so good...crowd wasn't overly busy recording ,but instead, taking it all in. Be sure to PM me when you are done. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this! It was a surreal experience, to say the least. It was very "cosmic" how I even ended up being able to go at the time. My wife didn't go ,unfortunately, and this gives her the oppritunity to check it out. I'm super blessed because of this band and fans like you...22 years(for me) and the ride keeps getting better...

Darn it, technically it's already 10/30 but just saw something that reminded me that this is the anniversary of that epic Charlottesville show! Howdy and happy"Yes, it still rocked!" anniversary to all who were in attendance!
  • I had an incredible trip with some of the best friends I've got over the 28th, 29th, and 30th of last year. It was my first PJ show ever and I was stoked beyond all belief. Could not believe the set list! How I ever thought I'd get Release, Sleight, and Breath all in one night...well I didn't think it was possible! I have no shortage of positive things to say about this show.
Here's to a year down the road.

It's definitely muted compared to how it actually was. It's the mix that they did. It's crystal clear, but I think the engineer muted the crowd too much. Hartford was much better for example. I think the best one I've heard is either MSG 2010 or Toronto 9/11/11. Those were perfect. Believe me, I'm not criticizing the show. To me, it was the best show since MSG, up until Moline. I think Moline and C'ville are now tied.
Lesson... go to the off the map shows.

Hartford is ridiculously loud. I rock the HD-FLAC and it leaves my head buzzing EVERY time.

And THAT'S how I like it. It's like you are there again. When the crowd is tuned back, it feels a little sterile to me. But every time I listen to the show, I'm always surprised again at the set. It's like.. they played THAT. Are you kidding? I remember walking out with the guy I went with saying... you realize we just witnessed a classic..an all timer.

I was standing in a different place for the encores from where I spent most of the show, and I was surprised I hadn't proposed to the stranger next to me by the time they went into SOLAT lol! I think I was pregnant by the time they did Baba and Little Wing... Immaculate Conception, Immaculate Show! :D

Not just a great show musically, but also Eddie's between-song banter was classic. He kept trying to give wine to the two 15-year-olds in the front with their parents. "Wouldn't it be great if their first sip of alcohol was at a Pearl Jam concert?"

Wow, I don't know what was wrong with me back in Oct '13, but somehow I Only.Just.REALIZED that this mind-blowing 10/29/13 Charlottesville show was *exactly* 20 years and just 1 day after my first ever Pearl Jam show, 10/28/93 at San Francisco's Warfield Theater!!! I did talk in my post earlier in the thread about how it had been 20 yrs, but I didn't realize it was 20 yrs TO THE DAY (+1 day, but with the SF/East coast time difference, practically the same day ;) )!!!!!

Don't mind me, that is just blowing my mind... because it was all about thinking about the 20 yr journey I'd had with PJ... never realized it was an anniversary indeed!

Sincerely, genuinely ASTONISHED. This was my first show in the front row, on the rail, and its as if this was a frigging gift! I will never forget this experience, from Eddie tipping his hat at my thank you sign, to Mike coming over to Stone's side during Alive, shaking our hands and coming back with picks, to Eddie giving my wife the wine bottle during the second encore (State, I believe bc I can't remember from all the excitement!), to him locking eyes with me during Baba and teasing a leap onto us with a huge smile...the boys were having a blast with all of us last night Charlottesville! They gave us an EPIC show bc of our energy and Eddie looked surprised and excited about this crowd. He def seemed to make it clear they wanted to come back, so we all need to find our way back next time and blow the roof off JPJ again! Instant, legendary, classic. What a night. Didn't think I'd ever get one for the ages. I absolutely love our boys. THANK YOU PJ!!! From the thank you sign guy! :)

I was right behind you, and at the end, mike pointed at your THANK YOU sign and said 'you're welcome'

    such an amazing night 8-)

Great to revisit this thread! Yes, I recall Mike saying "you're welcome" but it was a bit fuzzy so happy to hear some confirmation man! And about the wine, Eddie picked my wife out and handed her the bottle as they broke into "Alive," so she got a sip from EV, I was beside myself! So happy one of the guys behind us got it on video. I'll post it sometime. Still gives me goosebumps. What a truly EPIC night. Dying for this to be released on video!!!

Was so fortunate to attend Fenway 2 this past weekend, and it was truly magic, amazing show. But this show... so much about this show STILL replays in my head as extraordinary magic...

How are my fellow Charlottesville PJ show peeps doing these days?

I was at Fenway 2, it was like a dream.
I only saw 1 Charlottesville T shirt. I called out to the person as they walked by me on Yawkey Way, but they just kept on strollin...to cool for school.

I've probably been to 15 shows during the current Lightning Bolt era, and C'ville is still my favorite by a pretty wide margin.

Fenway 2 was my 11th show overall and has moved C'ville into the number 2 spot, for me. Too much history there. Still my favorite arena show.

My first PJ show. Everything about that day was perfect. Easy in and out of the parking lot, easy merch lines. Weather was beautiful....Oh, and the show was pretty damn stellar..I still watch the you tube full SBD show from time to time..special night indeed.
