Why the hell not... If anyone here has Bitcoins maybe we can work something out. I am a) interested to see who out there has any and b) pissed that I didn't get them a few years ago.

No cash, no trades, just hit me up if you want to work something out. Not expecting much of a response so even if you don't want the Sevens and have Bitcoins hit me up. I can go for some interesting convo :D

Figured this was the best place to bring it up.

Please excuse ignorance, but what are bitcoins?
Having tasted, a life wasted, I'm never going back again!
  • No worries. The easiest way to explain it would be to google it honestly. I'm not sure I am the best at explaining to someone who doesn't know what they are. Lots of diverse opinions and while I think the bubble will burst at some point, I think it has a long way to go until that happens.

I find it really interesting but basically it's an online type of currency. 3 years ago I could have bought 1 bit coin for $.30 and now the price of 1 is around $600-$700.

the bubble may not burst to be honest

there is a growing anti bank feeling around the world, and bitcoins are the first real direct threat to banks and world currencies, they are still extremely young still, and IMO will undoubtedly grow significantly.

The thing I wonder about is how they will release more of the currency without devaluing the rest significantly.

Governments are already trying to nullify their emergence by suggesting their are a criminals dream invention and a money launderers heaven, but that argument cannot be justified really given the Bitcoins system seems to offer total transparency

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure the cap is like 90 million coins. There's a finite number I do know that.

it all depends on the world government and how they plan on handling things like bitcoin. It was roughly 400 per coin last week, up to 900 a coin this week and back down to 450 range. Ben Shalom Bernanke whom is an American economist and currently chairman of the Federal Reserve says, "Bitcoin may hold long-term promise."

Yeah when the Feds basically said it's legit is what got me 100% back on board. Call me a gambling man, but the risk/reward on this might be the highest I'll see in my life. Beats the hell out of flipping a piece of wax or a poster for $50.

  • Good stuff! And I never buy into these types of things and am pretty conservative with my views, but I honestly think it will change the way we live. Will it hit $100,000 per coin? Probably not but I also never thought it would hit $5 and who the hell knows. But I do think the advantages are pretty amazing and there is a place for it even with regulation.

Price spike last week was due to the Chinese govt snapping them up...

PS New coins can be created or "mined" with supercomputers running a complicated program/algorithm to solve. Do the Chinese and other governments have lots of computing power where they could "mine" their own bitcoins and at some point crash the market? I think yes. :corn:

Ha, yeah I mean you can definitely do some serious reading up on all the mining and that as well. Kinda surprised nobody here has dabbled and picked any up or even know others that have any.
