Ice vinyl

In another thread, STAYSEA asked, "Would you buy an ice vinyl?" That gave me a great idea- ice vinyl! The artist Andy Goldsworthy produces many works that are ephemeral- sculptures that melt when the temperature rises of float away in steams or are washed out by high tide. It would be very cool (down-right cold in fact) if he (or someone) produced a record made of ice that had to be played at extremely low temperatures. A records that would melt when brought to room temperature! I would do it myself but I'm just not that fond of the cold. Go ahead- run with this one- but just tell them I sent you. :)
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

The friction of the diamond needle scraping against the vinyl raises the direct contact surface temperature of the record to at least 300-500 degrees Fahrenheit (some say it even gets as hot as 2000 F) for a split second. Vinyl's rubbery/plastic consistency allows the groove to flex and cater to the needle's contour, then return to normal after it has received this extreme blast of heat.

You're never supposed to play an album that is wet because it does not allow for the vinyl to get hot enough to cause for the flexing characteristic to occur. This causes extreme distortion and immediate wear and tear on the vinyl as the diamond is no longer fluidly scraping along the groove, but is now acting like a wrecking ball banging into the grooves.

But I guess it is possible for a single horrible sounding play-through, after that the needle with totally destruct and or evaporate the groove's soundwave

Now I really wish I had a vinyl made from ICE op!

The lyrics of the (horrible) single are about "fading away", and I've heard ice does that?
