  • at the risk of being "that guy"...I'd say this show is appropriately rated. They definitely busted out some of the less played songs but it was a pretty quite night.

Have you listened to the bootleg? I remember hearing it was pretty full but from the sounds of it I would've thought there were a couple hundred people there. Not to mention this show was in between a legendary show in Boston and 2 unreal nights at MSG.

were you there? because I was. It was fine..not crazy loud but it's about the performances..not crowd noise.

the 'were you there?' argument holds absolutely no water. if you were at a show, obviously its gonna mean more to you

having said that, i was also surprised at how many people shat on this show. yea, the crowd wasn't awesome, but i though the setlist was insane and the band was hella tight.
i wish my seats were better, but i had a blast at this show.
i saw 8 shows on that 2010 US tour(two more in europe) and this one was near the top (boston ahead of it, and MSG 2 way ahead of everything)
i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status

That is an amazing setlist. I hadn't noticed before. You should have bolded Brain of J. That is a rarity. Go was a rarity too around that time (once or twice a tour).

Setlist wise I don't think I've seen a better one outside of the PHilly 2009 shows since, well....I can't think of when.

Agreed. I find the obsession over "crowd noise" (especially as it's represented in a recording) to be strange. Why the hell should that matter? I was at the show. Crown was fine, setlist was awesome and the band sounded great. What more can you ask for? Happy you reminded me to have a listen to the boot.

SO fucking bitter I missed this show. I went to Hartford, both NYC shows, and Boston that tour. ALL AMAZING and saw insane setlists. However, I went to all the spectrum shows in 09 so now I have seen a ton of songs and there aren't many I still need. With that said, Newark had a nice chunk of them! Of The Girl, Alone, Brother and Leatherman! Not to mention they also had classic staples that I could see a zillion times like In Hiding, Immortality, Inside Job, etc...

I remember being like ahhh don't get out of hand you're already dishing out too much to go to the other 4... but in retrospect it would have been sweet...

Can't complain though... NYC 2 was the best show of my life.

Looking forward to this tour big time.

I wasn't implying that the whole show is dictated by the crowd. Obviously we all go for the band. But if I show up and 98% of the crowd is sitting and not singing/making noise, the show is probably not going to make my top list regardless of what gets played.

Its a perfect mix of crowd and setlist that makes a good PJ show. I think the mix wasn't good on this night, but I'll agree it was a good setlist.

That setlist is killer!!I really enjoyed the show but the croud had zero energy that night. I said to myself "WTF is up with this croud" a few times but the band was on fire IMO.

Sorry bro, I didn't mean to come down on you personally or anything and I do take your point. There have been times when I'm at a show and I can't believe or understand why people are quiet or not participating because it does affect performers sometimes, Pearl Jam included. I was writing more about bootlegs because the crowd levels on them are always manipulated for better or worse and not the best representation of actually being in the room.

    I was there.

Great show. I don't think it's under rated, simply followed by two epic shows and crowds.

If they played this setlist in South America this year people here would have flipped out. Don't let the haters get you down.

I was in the building and can say it was a Great show, as always. Really rare songs played well... Always a good thing. Crowd wasnt on fire like New York, but band was.

They even came out and played a third encore with all along the watchtower!

Have you seen the original setlist? It was even better, but since the crowd wasnt so hot some songs were skipped.

It's the one on the left. They skipped no way and breath. Had they include these as well I doubt it would have been so looked down upon.

well, from where i was there seemed to be a lot of people standing around doing nothing seemingly disinterested. i'm sure there were pockets of crowd jumping around somewhere, i mean if not then the concert would be mute. but i could totally see someone complaining about the crowd, i took a look around once and realized i was the only person nearby jumping around and going nuts. but besides that the show was one of my favorite and most memorable experiences =)

I was there and was a few rows back from the front and I even remember Ed looking around trying to get the crowd going. I think it was a combination of the weather (cold/rainy which was strange for that time of year) coupled with fans probably being exhausted from the aforementioned shows a day or two earlier that they just got their faces melted off and were rocked crazy. The band tried but the crowd just wasn't into it. Good setlist as people mentioned.

I was somewhere in the first 10 rows on the floor. If this set list was in philly or nyc or south america or the vic, it would have been one of the greatest set lists ever. unfortunately the show was in newark on a rainy weekday. the crowd was terrrible. I remember leaving the show with a bad taste in my mouth because the crowd was so subpar. they finally woke up after go but it was too late.

Maybe the crowd in Houston would have actually appreciated seeing the band and shown some energy!!

I was not there, but judging from those who were the crowd seems suspect. I was at bristow that year and the crowd was very on and off. Sometimes Ed seemed to enjoy the crowd, other times he pushed for more response. Crowd noise does nothing for a bootleg, however if a crowd is at least somewhat lackluster I cannot help but to feel the band loses a bit of energy. It's been awhile since I heard the Newark boot, so I'm not saying the show was low on energy, just a common trend I've noticed. Anyways, I do remember this show getting quite a bit of praise at the time, much more than Bristow and the first couple shows of the tour with St. Louis and Kansas City. I remember also thinking that the bootleg itself was easily the worst sounding boot of 2010. This being said, the show seemed tight considering the amount of rarities played. Setlist matters very little to me, but to play that kind of set in a tight error free manner is impressive. I thought remember reading a couple years ago that the band argued at Newark, was that true?

I didn't make it. I love the boot, though.

As for the crowd, when they were vocal, they were too stupid to know who originally sang/wrote "Jersey Girl." :o

So, you know, maybe better that they were quiet. :P

I listen to this show more than any other bootleg of shows I went to.

The rain and commute to Jersey was a downer for me, but the set kicks ass! So happy they played close to me instead of Boston .

I liked this one much better than MSG Night 1

Agreed! Me and my buddy drove down from Mass and my 10C tixs had me on the floor....place was dead! Eddie even acknowledged at one point that he didnt know about the crowd but the band wanted to keep playing. No energy in the building, but not a bad setlist.

Loved this show. I remember that torrential rain beforehand.
I was near McCready when he ran 10 rows deep into the crowd during the encore. fun times.

Since next week is the 3 year mark, does anyone know where I'll be able to download it? for whatever reason, I never picked it up.

    Thanks.
