LouFest?

LouFest is a relatively new and small music festival held in Forest Park in St. Louis - this year on Sept 7 and 8. They have new organizers and sponsors this year and they have been adamant that they are going to make this a bigger event and make a splash. I bought presale tickets since it's a cool event but really didn't think we had a chance for Pearl Jam. However, they are doing a teaser on the website which is pieces to a puzzle so you can guess the lineup. Right in the middle of the puzzle is a spot for a band with two words - 5 letters and then 3 letters. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Link to the puzzle is:

Minneapolis has jack shit for music festivals. River's Edge was cancelled as well as First Avenue's music fest. The basillica block party is just a bunch of bands soccer moms think are cool (train headlined last year).

Yea, I especially have a beef with cities 97. They act like they're cool and then play Pink and Bruno Mars. Yea, really groundbreaking, guys (rolls eyes).

Last year was The Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Jr, and Son Volt. Not too bad IMO.

Who is it this year? Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20? Really great line up - NOT! Why is this so popular and not Riverfest? We had DMB last year. Come on MN pick it up. Maybe use the Mystic Lake outdoor amphitheater?

would be cool but i can't see it happening. my city never pulls in awesome acts at these festival things. it is always some aging kshe 95 classic rock acts. in my opinion they have a better chance getting them for fair st louis than loufest.

Looks like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will be there... unless there is some other band that fits into the blanks on the 3rd line!

I want to get excited for 80/35 but they never seem to book any acts that make me want to go. Maybe some day they can do that!

I am actually pretty stoked about this years lineup -- i think Wu-Tang will be a lot of fun - and Beach House and a few others

Don't you think PJ would be one of the main headliners.......not seven rows down?
  • bb4packersbb4packers Posts: 170
Fair point - hoping they srambled it up to keep us guessing. Agree there is almost no chance but there's a sliver of hope. Pretty good marketing ploy by the organizers either way.
  • couldn't this be hacked?
i mean i wouldn't know the first thing about it - but it seems like someone would be able to do it
  • I'd be shocked if this were the case, I don't think they have ever had an act that big at Lou Fest before. Last year I think the big acts were Flaming Lips and Wilco, which are big acts but I wouldn't put in the list of bands, like Pearl Jam, that tour arenas and amphitheaters. I would love to see my city get some big names like Chicago does for Lollapalooza but I believe this is also only the 4th year this festival has happened, hopefully this festival grows to the capacity of Lollapalooza. That would be amazing!

Dino Jr is an under appreciated artist for sure..I would def go see that, but take some earplugs...LOL...last time he was in Charlotte at one of our small venues, they literally blew the electricity with too many Marshalls onstage...lol..I have pics from right in front in the dark ... 8-)

Dug this up from the STL Post-Dispatch from a few months ago -

Thanks to the partnership with C3 Presents, it will be bigger and better.

    • Stages will increase from two to three.

    • The lineup is well over half completed.

    • Acts will perform simultaneously.

LouFest has hosted names such as the Flaming Lips, the Roots, Girl Talk, Jeff Tweedy, TV on the Radio, She & Him, Alejandro Escovedo, the Hold Steady, Son Volt and many more.

C3 Presents produces Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Let's see what letter they light up tomorrow

I think this is just the 2nd or 3rd year, but the lineup has generally been more towards modern indie type stuff than the shitty classic rock that gets plugged hard by KSHE.

I don't think it's PJ, but it wouldn't be the most shocking thing with the new promoters taking over and PJ has a pretty good history with St Lou. That would make it a pretty big jump since last few years the Flaming Lips and TV on the Radio were the headliners.

    hmmmmm

I've never been to St. Louis.............

But if you follow the FB links the favorite for that potential PJ spot seems to be a band called 'Icona Pop'
    Never heard of them.
