50 states in 50 days?

If Pearl Jam ever attempted this (been done by George Thorogood and The Melvins) what would be the most states you would be willing to do? I am asking this because I am trying to see a concert in every state (24 down) and would really like to see Pearl Jam in one of the four states they have never played. I was also thinking that I would have to hit up some of the less frequented states but this would obviously get expensive. Plus, just imagine no one in the U.S. being able complain that they were being slighted. This would be nice.

Are you hoping to kill them?!

You'd have to give them at least 100 days.

would be awesome if they did that. I would tap out after 3 or 4 shows though. and then maybe try to hit the last 2..

I had this conversation with someone the other day: If PJ were playing your city every day for an entire year...how many shows do you think you would go to in a row before you had to stop? I said 7 max. she said 30!

I just googled the years GT did it and George was a spry 31 but The Melvin's (never knew Matt Lukin was in band) did it last year and they are pretty old. PJ could do it. Look at the Stones, they are like 70 and are touring like mad men. If PJ did do it they could take a long hiatus and no one could complain.

I think I'd do ten states. Alaska, West Virginia and 8 fly over states so I could knock ten more states off my list. Alaska would need to be either first or last. If they played my city for an entire year I'd do many more because you could pace yourself. You would do more than 7 just out of convenience and proximity. I'd probably do around 25 unless it was Mohegan Sun then less.

Gotcha, I missed that part. Yeah in a row, 7 would be my max and probably tough. Though I liked they entire year theory because of the holiday shows.

    Probably about 7 or 8.

3 or 4 in a row, then back to work for a month or so, then 3 or 4 more.

They played Portland, Maine in 1996 and Rapid City, South Dakota in 1998. I'm not certain of all the unplayed states, but I'm pretty sure they've never played Alaska, New Hampshire, Vermont, Delaware, or West Virginia. And it's been so long for many major cities down south that their PJ virginity is growing back.

 That is awesome!! That is all they play now ain't it?

Ed's voice would be gone by night #4, never to recover the rest of the tour. :)

They don't even play THREE NIGHTS in a row any more, I think since 2003... 2012 Vedder solo tour was I believe the only time since 03 this was done, and if I had to guess, it was because it was the only way to fit all the Texas shows in on the rescheduled dates.

Anyway, I know this was a hypothetical question so I would say I would try 3 states, maybe 4 in a row... maybe a break, then a couple more.

I've done 3 states in 3 days back on Riot Act--San Diego, Vegas, Phoenix, and actually home (NM) would make it 4 states in 4 days but there was no show the 4th day! And driving, it was kinda tough. Tiring. But it was a blast. And on the 3rd night's show in Phoenix, it was the shortest concert of the whole tour and Ed's voice was gone from staying up all night in Vegas the night before.

I actually thought they played Deleware so it's actually five states. Alaska, Deleware, New Hampshire, Mississippi and West Virginia are sans Pearl Jam. I've seen shows in DE and NH so I'd have to hit up the other three if PJ ever decided to play there.

I know the White Stripes kinda did this as well in '07, they played all 50 states but not in 50 days.

I would probably do about 10 states (PA, NJ, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Mass, West Virgina, North Carolina, and Connecticut).

I actually thought they played Deleware so it's actually five states. Alaska, Deleware, New Hampshire, Mississippi and West Virginia are sans Pearl Jam. I've seen shows in DE and NH so I'd have to hit up the other three if PJ ever decided to play there.

You left out VT. So is it 6? (Alaska, West Virginia, Vermont, Mississippi. Delaware and New Hampshire)

    Is this right? No Mississippi?

It would never happen, but they'd have to scale back considerably. George Thorogood and the Melvins don't have quite the gear haul or stage setup that PJ has. The roadies would be as ragged as Ed's voice.

They played Burlington, VT in 1992. But yeah I see no Mississippi?

When did The Melvins do this?

It says 2012 (I know nothing about this band). I just knew George Thorogood did it in the 80's, so I googled to see if anyone else did it more recently and The Melvins came up.

What are the 4 they have never played? Guessing Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Alaska? When did they play West Virginia? Or South Dakota? fill me in on the facts, Jack. Thanks.

They played Augusta Maine in 1996 not Portland( 65 miles away).
I would personally go to shows in places I've never seen them. I'm from New England so of course New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island would be cool but I think Mass, Conn, and NY have had plenty of opportunities to host. I think 1/3 of the shows I've been to have been in Boston. I notice alot of people on here are always saying how they should come back to NY, Boston or Philadelphia, that's just funny to me. And secondly, how about seeing them somewhere other than your hometown or bordering state, I know leaving NYC and Boston can be scary for some of you but believe it or not you might enjoy yourself. I mean I love sitting in traffic all day too but.....well I'll stop my rant for now. Haha
