The methodology they use is ridiculous...

They are penalizing great bands for being great from the get go. Don't quite see how that transfers into a list of best debuts.

possibly the worst write up for the album too. how does that do Pearl Jam justice by mentioning Nirvana twice basically saying they're better and Creed. total low blow. the writers at Rolling Stone should go kick rocks.

While I definately think Pearl Jam should be ranked A LOT higher on this list, I don't really have a problem with the Beasties being #1. I've said for years that it is quite possibly the greatest debut album of any group. I mean sure, Zeppelin, the Beatles etc are better bands. But License to Ill is the equivalant to a greatest hits album. Many of the Beatles and Zeppelins best songs are on future albums. Many of the Beastie Boys' best songs are on their debut. Add to it the cultural significance, 3 white jewish kids from NYC basically turned hip/hop on it's head and paved the way for everyone who came after them in that genre, yeah I agree License to Ill is the greatest debut album from any group.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Agree but GnR's Appetite was an amazing debut. I'd have that above the Beasties, PJ should be a lot higher than 46, at least top 20, the album is practically flawless

This list is a huge joke...but Hott Fuss is a damn good album. Much better than 75% of the list and definitely the best Killers album.

Nearly a decade after that album came out there are legitimately six tracks on it (Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Mr. Brightside, Smile Like You Mean It, Somebody Told Me, All These Things That I've Done, On Top) that still pack the dance floor without fail at the club I work at. Regardless of your personal opinions, Hot Fuss is a hugely important album to a lot of very serious music fans and for a certain generation it is one of THE key gateway/first love albums the same way albums like Ten, Gish, Nevermind, Badmotorfinger, etc. were ten-eleven years earlier. To just not like the album is one thing, but to not get why it would be on a list like this is silly. But then again I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find another forum where this list is being discussed and someone is saying "Pearl Jam made it? What a joke."

Yea I hated the singles when they first came out but about two years ago I went back and listened to the album for some reason, which I still have no idea what that was, and was shocked at how solid the album is. There's really not one weak song on there...caught me by surprise and now I think it's definitely one of the top 10 albums of the '00's. Just a fun album to listen through.

The rest of their albums are ehh...a few good songs here and there but that's it.
