I'm pretty sure Mike played guitar for the movie. In other words, those solos and a lot of guitar parts were Mike playing.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Just read that Brad Pitt was originally casted to play guitar. I'm glad he didn't do it.

The main character in "Almost Famous" (the journalist) also plays in the movie, "We Bought A Zoo" which is also directed by Cameron Crowe. In we bought a zoo, there is great music, Neil Young, Temple of the Dog, Cat Stevens etc. Also, one of the characters is McCready. Cameron Crowe definitely loves our guys!!

I may have to check that movie out sometime. Is it an older move? Do they periodically replay it on TNT or USA or any channels like that?

    You are correct

I am not so sure about this. I know Peter Frampton was a 'technical advisor' on this movie (which I also love) and gave Billy Crudup (the actor who plays the lead guitar player) some basic guitar lessons to ensure that his hands looked and moved right on the instrument. Frampton also appears as the Humble Pie manager in the 'manager poker game' scene where he wins the 'Band Aids' (groupies) for $50 and a case of beer. Thoses facts are for sure...

The song 'Fever Dog' guitar solo sounds a lot more like Frampton to me stylistically than it does Mr McCready. Just saying... 8-)

Couldn't agree more. To take it step further it's about the only movie I can watch with the director commentary turned ON.

One more thing, the 'Band Aid' that gets the most camera time after Kate Hudson is none other than Sookie, from 'True Blood'....Anna Paquin! What a great movie!
