there are currently over 2000 tickets on stubhub/ticketsnow for the chicago show. i was shut-out from both fanclub and tickets.com sales. i'm thinking about just showing up without a ticket and buying one the day of the show from a local friendly scalper. do you think there will be plenty of tickets to buy from scalpers the day of the show, or do you think prices will just go higher because there won't be any left on the streets? my gut tells me scalpers will end up dumping tickets for cheap 20 minutes after the show starts, if not sooner. then again, it would suck to fly in from California and not get in..... what do you think? maybe i should trade my PJ20 backpack for a fanclub ticket.....

I think later in the spring and early summer you will find plenty of tickets on the board for face or less. Happens for every PJ show. Just have to be patient.

  • Small time scalpers & regular people with extras will start to lower their price as the show gets closer and eventually starts. However, this is a SMALL portion of the secondary market. The big time companies (which are too numerous to even list here) have NO problem simply "throwing away" their extras. They make so much on the tickets that they do sell, they can easily afford to simply destroy the tickets they can't. It happens all the time. The thing that will REALLY drive prices down is inclement weather. If it's pouring rain, it will certainly drive off the casual fan who was just going to 'see what this whole Pearl Jam thing is all about'. A beautiful sunny Friday Chicago day in July will bring out the masses just to hang out in the Wrigley area, and that alone could drive up the cost on the streets. I've said it before...triple face value will probably be the going rate for this show.

I'm coming from Texas with no ticket in hand. Buying when I arrive. There's no doubt there'll be tickets available.

Don't the box offices ALWAYS release some tickets the day of the show?

They hold tickets for special guests/vip's etc. and when they are not claimed they then sell them at the box office.

My buddies and I got front row at a NIN show 20 minutes before show time.

If you wait in line day of the show, much like waiting to get into the GA section first, I would think you are all but guaranteed tickets.

AND if it's a buyers market, then people with extras will be approaching the line to sell theirs off.

I would have little worry about finding tickets day of the show, one way or the other.

Wrigley is too big for there not to be plenty of ticket options available.
  • You won't have to buy from a scalper. There will likely be some tickets available at the box office if you get there early (sometimes these end up being phenomenal seats - they always reserve some seats for VIPs an if they don't get used they get released).

Otherwise there will be plenty of people selling extras for face or below. Don't feed the scalpers, either on SH or on the street. There is absolutely no need, especially with a show this size.

Been doing this for years at PJ shows: Landed pavilion seats for PJ20 this way; Sec. 100 seats for United Center 2009 the day of the show (same show many fan clubbers ended up in 300 section); and 12th row seats for PJ in 2003 in Detroit. Just a few examples. There's probably at least several hundred tickets on hold right now.

They hold back more than they could possibly need, just in case. Sometimes you have to line up early to get tickets at the box office. Sometimes they tell you they don't have any, then 10 minutes later they release them and you can buy them. It's a game, and never believe the box office people who say its sold out in the early afternoon. They are full of dirty lies.

But even if you don't score at the box office, people with an extra ticket will be all over the place.

How does this even happen? I thought scalping was "illegal" and yet it's posted right on the Tickets.com Stubhub site with 100's of tickets for sale that fans really, really want. WTF??? :?:

The supply has seemed to increase with the lowest price dropping close to $200. Small steps but I think the market is flooded now that people got their hard tickets in the mail and they don't want to pay for them on next month's credit card bill before they flip them.... ;)

Yep, keep waiting and the prices will keep falling. Everyone just got their hard tickets from tickets.com so the inventory went up.

That was one of the best things Pearl Jam did...announce at the same time that they will tour in addition to the "An Evening With" shows. That way (for those of us who didn't get tickets) we will have plenty of chances to see them multiple times for the same price as 1 scalper ticket to Wrigley. At least that's my plan...3 for 1.

Small time scalpers & regular people with extras will start to lower their price as the show gets closer and eventually starts.
Don't listen to this poster. The prices go down closer to the show. The day of the show you will find tickets. I wonder if this guy works for stubhub?
