****I had an ephiphany, and im hoping others can help make this bigger than a thought. Mike just had an interview saying they had 7 songs ready for a new album. Well, avocado was released in the spring, and did well.

****We all need some Pj! So why not crank it up in the studio. Get those 7 mastered. And put em out. People like quick marketing these days. Movies don't do the overkill of commercials anymore, its all about word of mouth.Get it on Itunes first, and Targets a good sidestep of total commercialism.

**** It's been 3 long years since Backspacer. We are all faithful. The guys know that. But, maybe now they feel intense pressure to deliver. Mike as well as Jeff will cheer the band on through the pressure, with kind and confident interviews.

***** Finally, this is a great way to distance all of the 20th anniversary hangover. The band needs a kickstart. Ten just hit 10 million U.S. etc. Its getting kindy heavy. With this plan the band can wing, like they always have and blow us all away.

Thank you for reading, the movements called FLUX CAPICITATE

We could all share in 7 new songs, and cheer them all summer long!

I think your idea is awesome...But, I just don't see it happening.....From what Mike stated...Looks like they will work on a full album..
  • Pearl Jam have never released en EP proper before. And don't gimme no lip about Merkinball, that was a single. I'd buy the shit out of a PJ EP.

Are you kidding me? 7 songs from an album which will possibly be 12 tracks! No way man. There's talk of some "Pink Floyd type stuff" (McCready) and you gotta respect the band that they want to present a complete ALBUM for the fans.

What you are describing is exactly whats wrong with music today in my opinion: we want it now. We dont even wanna wait until they are finished. Get it mastered and uploaded quick quick quick.

No, not for me. Although I would completely support an EP of tracks that were not going to be on the album but that would have had to come out a year ago. We're too close to number 10 to rush things.

  • Gotta agree with Mango. It's been a while already, would rather wait for a full album now. What happened to the sounds like Motorhead that Mike mentioned before? I like that better than punk rock.

nah, i say full album. i understand how you feel but...i don't know. it's been too long for just 7. an ep would be awesome sometime closer to a release but after 4 years, i want to full experience.

I would really like if they released songs whenever. Man of the Hour style. What have they got to lose? We'll each purchase one. Honestly each album sells less than the previous, they aren't going to get many new fans on a new full scale album anyway. They've already done the bootleg thing which is great and many bands are following suit. Why not just release songs as they have them. I'd rather hear the 7 songs now, have them work on the other 15 and whatever Eddie brings and release those over time then hear 12 in October and the others get shelved forever.

Because as artists they make albums. It's what they do. I don't ever wanna see this band write one off stuff and release it as a shitty download over a collaborative piece like an album. The journey of an album, the political scene, art, anger, happiness is what makes an LP.

This cannot change. Music has lost enough of its soul in the last 15 years or so.

I'd rather wait for a Full album. that way we only have to wait for them to finish another 3-5 songs.
if they release an EP, that then means we have to wait even longer for a full album, just my observation.

then any songs left over, will hopefully one day go towards a lost dogs 2

What if the 7 ready songs, are an Ep and the new ones Ed has, and furthermore can be worked on proper. While we headbang away to a some new summer songs for Wrigley. This isnt meant to take away from whatever awesome creation they have. Just to satisfy the thirst, and take the monkey off their back

so saying an album has to have 11-12 songs isnt being cookie cutter?

Cause it stinks of modern day digital bullshit. It conforms to the ever quickening world we live in. There's no patience anymore. I understand you are not looking to lose the creativity or downgrade the album but 7 songs is most likely over half an album. That's a huge amount of time and effort. 2 or 3 tracks in a B-Side style? Of course, I'd be all on for that. The stuff that lands on the cutting room floor that they know won't make the cut (although I would rather see them release a Lost Dogs II type thing with a lot more material).

I don't think there are any monkey's on the band back. They are taking their time and out of the million reasons they have (life, family, friends, commitments) they are on a journey and number 10 will be a presentation of just that: Pearl Jam in 2013 / 2014. This is us. Not all will like it. Some will love it.

For me personally one of the most important things any band can do is stay true to themselves. And its tough, its really tough I imagine. But the new album is coming and you gotta trust them to do what they do best.

    Well you can't please everyone.
I think they took some criticism for Backspacer being a bit of a shorter album.
I can hear the rants if we only got 7 songs. I can wait. I think they want to do it up right...
    Excited! :D
