If you like it check out the second one as well. The rest of the sequels aren't even worth mentioning.

ROTLD is a fun movie. It also stars Tom Mathews, who played Tommy in Friday the 13th Part 6.

It also has a young Miguel Nunez (who was in Friday The 13th V) prior to his Juwanna Mann "fame".

  • Love horror movies!

    Some Classics:
The Exorcist. When that show came out... whew... scaaaary.
Jaws. Still think of Jaws when in the ocean.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Last scene was epic.
    The Shining. Redrum.
    Alien. Maybe my favourite.
Sixth Sense. What a great show.
    28 Days Later was great.
Dawn of the Dead (holding out in the mall was a fun show).
The Ring. Kid in the closet was creepy.

    Some sleepers:
    When a Stranger Calls
    Wolf Creek
    The Crazies

Can't really watch true horror but recently watched American Werewolf in London,
just googled... it's 32 years old

I might be brave enough for the sequel An American Werewolf in Paris.

    Watching "Creepshow".

I haven't seen Creepshow 2, is it worth a rent? I know the third one isn't really considered part of the series, so I never planned on checking it out, but I considered the second one even though I've heard it's not as good.

I wouldn't recommend it. I saw it in high school, and even though I sat in a theater for like an hour and a half staring at this thing on a giant screen, I remember almost NOTHING about it. It's that forgettable. The one thing I remember is near the beginning somebody bungee jumps off the Eiffel Tower and smacks their head on a beam, knocking them out. Maybe I got knocked out too, hence the memory loss. I guess some people thought it was worse than forgettable, I see it has an 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yeah, its def worth a rental. While not as good as the first, there are a couple of decent stories.

In no particular order: The Descent, The Exorcist, and The Shining.

Honorable mentions: Session 9, Cabin Fever, Jaws, Children of the Corn, Rosemary's Baby, Alien, and Halloween.

These are all movies that actually scared me as opposed to just made me feel sick and dirty.

Yeah, so many horror movies from the past decade or so (I know there are some good ones too, but most of the mainstream movies) have lost all subtlety and suspense. They're just in your face simulated snuff/torture films that substitute squeamishness for horror. I've never seen those Paranormal Activity films, and they're very popular and don't appear to rely on gross-out scares, so they're a definite exception to the rule. Not that I'm interested in seeing them either, as I'm completely over the found footage genre.

I started to watch "Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight" last night on Netflix...got about 10 minutes into it and decided to hold off until I wasn't as tired.

Is this as good as some of the stories on the Crypt tv show?

I love it, there's actually a discussion about it earlier in this thread. I guess it depends on which Tales From The Crypt episodes you're a fan of. If you liked the show you should check it out, it's the only TFTC movie worth watching in my opinion. It's a little dated, very 90's. But it's good fun, it has quite a bit of humor too.

I read last year that they were coming up with a new concept for Tales From The Crypt. Haven't read anything new about it though.

That show was really good. There were a couple that were really top notch. The one with Jon Lovitz trying out for Hamlet was gold!

Tales from the Crypt used to be HBO's top original programming. For most of the episodes, I would enjoy the crypt keeper segments more than the stories. Over the years there were some very good episodes though.

Yeah, they didn't really offer that much prior to that. I remember when I was really young they had some shows like "Not Necessarily The News" and "1st And 10", but Tales From The Crypt was the first real breakout hit that I can remember. I guess they had "Inside The NFL" prior to that, but I don't remember it really becoming big until the 90's or so.

    Just watched Demon Knight.

I forgot that the Gravediggaz were on that soundtrack. Their first record was fantastic.

I finished watching Demon Knight on Saturday night. Considering the TV show adapted some really good stories from the comic book, I was disappointed.
