Hoping My Pain Doesn't Cause Me To Miss The Montreal Show

I have been living with chronic back pain for over 15 years (I'm 42), and the last three weeks have been dreadful!! I just found out yesterday that I will have to undergo a 7th back surgery next month. I pray that I can hold out until after Sept. 7th, so I can see PJ in Montreal using my 10C seats. I have an extremely low fan club number and my seats are usually incredible. I know that after my surgery I will be laid up for several months, so if I can just have one more awesome night before I undergo the surgery I would be very grateful!! My buddy for the show has offered to drive (approx. 4 1/2 hour road trip), I hope the ride isn't too much for me either. My last Pearl Jam related venture to Montreal (to see Eddie Vedder) lead to my daughter and I not only meeting Eddie backstage, but being called up on to the stage during the show so Eddie could play a song for my daughter (Bob Dylan's Forever Young)!! I don't care how debilitated I am after the show (although I already have a ticket to see the PJ20 movie on the 20th), as long as I am able to attend!! I guess I could always see the movie at another time...I just don't want to miss the opening night of the Canadian tour!! Please wish me luck...as I hope to be seeing everyone there!!!

Hope you make it. Like you said the car ride will be worse than the 2 1/2 hours of standing and singing on your back. If your buddy is driving maybe he wouldn't mind if you medicated yourself for the ride. Best of luck w/ the surgery too.

I'm sending good thoughts your way. I have been having lower back pains for the first time in my life (I'm 25) which has caused me to cancel my planned roadtrip to PJ20 and fly instead. I'm so grateful I do not have to miss my show and I hope you won't either.

Things are not looking too good for me. My pain was so bad Tuesday night that I had to go to the hospital for pain control!! I have been trying to rest up and feel better so I can make the show! I am not throwing in the towel just yet, just saying things are not looking too good right now!! Hopefully things will magically change!!

    praying for some magic!

I know this pain and have known the complications when you ignore it.

Take good care of yourself, don't take risks.

If your situation is anything like mine ... walking depends on it.

Good luck and most important stay positive it does help to manage the pain

You are in my thoughts and prayers

I hope you can make it man. I missed out on the Spectrum shows due to shoulder surgery on Oct. 26th 2009. I had hoped to be able to still go and tough it out but I found out very quickly that that wasn't happening... Pretty shitty feeling!

God granted me my wish...after a month of the most agonizing pain...the epidurals I got this morning drastically reduced my pain...able to walk without assistance & without my cane...I forgot what it was like to have minimal pain...let's hope it lasts...God Bless my doctor whom has never given up on me and always tries to keep me optimistic that "Better days are ahead"...lastly a big Thank You to ALL my supportive family & friends...

P.S. - Despite the level of pain I was in and how physically impaired I was at those times I somehow DID manage to make the Montreal show (7th row center) and to see the PJ2o movie...two things that kept me going emotionally during extremely tough times!!!

Glad to hear. Sometimes having a fun time can act as an epidural :D.

I was really happy to see you there in MTL. I don't know if you remember me, we've met before the show, I told you where to pick up your ticket and ask if you were the guy who was on the stage with EV at Place des Arts 2008. I seriously hope you'll get better and better everyday!
