Just finished with my 17th show in LA and am putting all my tickets into a frame. Thought you guys might be interested in how the ticket prices have changed. No agenda here -- been worth every penny for me. Sure there are some out there who saw them in the early days for some ridiculously cheap price. Anyway, here are the ticket prices -- and these don't include all the extra surcharges/fees, etc. Just the basic ticket price.

KC 98 -- $23
Cincy 00 -- $30
STL 00 -- $30
STL 03 -- $37
SD 03 -- $38.50
KC 03 -- $42.50
Boston 04 -- $45
STL 04 -- $52.50
Chicago 06 -- $51
Lolla 07 -- $80
NYC 08 -- $77
Hartford 08 -- $62
Mansfield 08 -- $62
Mansfield 2 08 -- $62
Chicago 09 -- $68
Chiacgo 2 09 -- $68
LA3 09 -- $75.75

Yep, economic inflation is a bitch. Everything is relative. I make more than I did in 98/00 so it would figure that tickets for shows will be more. At least they aren't U2/Springsteen prices........yet.

My first two PJ shows were free!

Reading 2006 - Urbanhippie and hubby didn't go so myself and my partner at the time (UH's little brother) were kindly given the tickets.
Wembley 2007 - My Dad bought my ticket as a birthday present.

My 3rd and 4th shows weren't so cheap... but it was soooooooo worth it. Like D said, any price is fair
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Everything seeemed even until you get to the end of the OP's list with these two above. Quite the percentage jump within the space of a couple months if you ask me. That doesn't make any sense wheras the rest of the list may.

"Back when we were on tour last spring,we asked everybody to take a cut (in profits) - we were taking a cut, and we said if we're gonna work with you, you have to do the same, because we're not going to take as much money from our fans as everyone would like. Ticketmaster didn't want to take a cut. We felt the service charge they were asking for was disproportionate to the ticket price we were offering. If you have a $55 Rolling Stones ticket and there's a $3-6 service charge, okay. But ours was an $18.50 ticket, and now all of a sudden it's a $24 ticket. That's not right. I just want people to be able to see our shows. It's extremely important that it's available to everyone, that if they'd like to attend, they'd be able to. Also, when you start having $50 tickets, all of a sudden you're changing your audience. And that's a frightening thought, playing only to people that can afford a $50 ticket." Eddie Vedder 1994

I saw Pavement, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, and Primus at Red Rock in 1992 for $17.60.
    That's $4.40 per band!

The best deal ever though has to be seeing Wellwater Conspiracy for FREE and meeting Matt afterward.

Inflation has gone up about 1.5x what it was in 1992. $100 in 1992 is worth about $152 now. If it was only inflation, that $18.50 ticket price Eddie was talking about in 1994 would only cost about $27 now.

Clearly, there's more going on than inflation. Cost of living is not 400% what it was in 1994.

Actually, yeah I do. Although I was stocking shelves in a supermarket in 1998 (I was 16) for $7 an hour. I now make much more than that, thankfully. Even more than 2.3 times. Does that count? :D

To be honest (and I should've said this in my initial post), I don't have an issue with the ticket prices as much as I do all the travel and expenses to go see them. I live in the middle of Missouri -- not many shows there in the past 6 years (a VFC in 2004 at STL).

I love to travel and have had some of the best adventures in NYC, Chicago, Hartford, LA and Boston, so for that I am quite thankful and appreciative. Give me a reason to see the band and I usually find a way, so not going to complain about that. Just hoping that for at least part of the 2010 tour that the Midwest gets some shows - the ol' bank account would be most appreciative.

It's getting hard explaining to the kids during the winter the reason why the heat is off is because "Daddy had to go see Pearl Jam again..." ;)
