I need a new digital camera...

edited October 2007 in All Encompassing Trip
My digital camera fell 2 feet from my computer desk onto the carpet and now the LCD screen is broken, SO...
I need to get a new camera... I'm not looking for anything too crazy, been looking around Overstock.com. I want to spend $100, since I break or lose my cameras quite often...
Anyone have any recommendations?

i don't really have a recomdation just an observation that might be something you wanna keep in mind
i hate that some dig cameras have that lul between photos while the camera 'saves' the pic before you can take your next pic

I'd stick to the more known brands. Cannon, Kodak, Sony, Panasonic (Lumix), etc.

You might also look at getting one off Ebay. Cannon A550 or 560? Nice budget cameras, not sure if you can find one for $100 though.

Whatever you do, don't get a kodak zoom camera.
I thoroughly regret having bought it. The pics are ok, but it is really slow and it's HUGE. A real pain to carry around (although that might be why I haven't lost it yet in many years)

I know someone with a Sony and the photos are great. What does everyone think about a Sony Cybershot? The 7.2s are coming down in $.

I really don't like the flashes on Sony's. My old sony was horrible, and my boss bought a Sony for the office to use and the flash just sucks. It does the same thing as my 4 year old Sony does, makes weird "ghost" dots all over. They take great pics when the light is great though.

My best luck has been with my Cannon IS 1S, great camera for the price. But now I'm saving my pennies for a Digital SLR!

I love my sony cybershot - use it at home and at work. My son has had one for 3 years with a crack down the viewscreen - worked like a charm until he dropped it at the beach.

One of my all time favorite sites. It's been around for years (I think 12-14 years ago), they used to have a TV show/channel. It was CNetTV, then it changed to ZDTV, then came TechTV, then it was G4TechTV, and now it's G4TV.

I bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-T70 a couple months back, and it has really impressed me. I usually go for SLR cameras, but I wanted something hassle free and small enough to carry in my pocket during my travels. The pictures I've taken have turned out pretty well. The 3.5 inch touch panel LCD screen is killer and easy to navigate.

Here are some pictures I took with my new camera at Bryce Canyon in Utah:

Here's some more information from Sony's website:

It wasn't cheap, but it makes me a happy boy.

I just looked that one up. It looks really good, esp the black version. It looks a bit chunky though. How big or comfortable is it to handle in your opinion? It's not one of the skinny ones like the canon digital elphs is it?

Yeah, I got the black one. It is a tad bigger than the thin pocket cameras, but I like it because I can wrap my hands around it. I feel I have more to hold onto, versus the thin ones I feel as though they are gonne slip outta my hands.

The 6X optical zoom is what really sold me. And I liked that it came in black.

Plus, I got it for free through my work's "Spirit of Excellence Points" program.
