Pray to whom?

Angels pray to god
Down on their knees
Locked within a cage
From which they can not fly
Imprison souls
Seeing Earth only to help eat our sin

Serpents roam just as they please
Betray the master
Run amongst us
Are they not truly free
Telling lies
Do whatever they may
Nothing left to loose
Where can they go
Solitary place to stay
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
(Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
(And function)
Function is the key

  • Over the River - a crossing

What lies just beyond the river
    Venture out
    Endeavor before the flame
    Knowing I can’t live forever
    Should I stop
Live my life a little purer
    Should I pray
    I don’t know but
    Can it hurt much
With all the deeds I’ve shown

    Over the river
    Where does it go
    I can’t see heaven
    Got no choice now
I know I have to follow

    Helping hand
    Never seemed for me
    Didn’t try too
    Just living for my day
    Seems so shallow
    Is that just me
    You’ve seen my worst
    Would you
    Say the same

    Look inside
    Don’t like what I see
    Times of sorrow
    Mostly caused by me
    Fading gently
    Wasn’t in my plans
    Never had none
    Living on whim

    Sleep
    Gravitates
    Approaches slowly
    It’s within my reach
    Slipping quickly
    Where will I go
    Can’t see heaven
    Now I dread below
    Slipping quickly
    What can I do
    I’ll pay my penance
    Tell me what to do
    I’ll go in silence
    Or I’ll be your hand
    I can show you fully
    I can scream aloud

    Over the river
    Where does it go
    I can’t see heaven
    Got no choice now
I know I have to follow

    Now I’ll cross that river
    I’ll see the other side
    Don’t know what lies there
    Will I live out
    All the hurt I’ve caused
    Will I repeat them
    I heard their cries
    Never concerned
    I was mesmerized
    I feel their hurt now
    It’s piled on high
    No hesitation
    No not from me
    I never held back
    It was not for me
    I kept on digging
    The deepest grave
    Never thought I’d use it
Never thought I’d see that day

    Now I’ll cross that river
But first I’ll look upon my past
    Regret the turmoil
    The worlds I crumbled
    Can’t ignore the anguish
    All that piercing pain
    Oh how I wish
I could do it all over again

    Oh I see the river
    It brings on shivers
    Over the river
    I can see no hope
    Don’t deserve none
    Now I follow
    See the consequences
    Of this life
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes

  • The Waiting

    Pray I do
    That I can avoid
    That to see I won’t
    Looking to the heavens
    Clasp my hands
    Will this succeed
Tell me what to say the most

    Waiting
    Please show a sign
    I’m sick of waiting
    While I waste away

    Moving
    Well I’ll pass along
    I’m sick of kneeling
    I can’t stand the wait

    Praying to the heavens
What has it really done for me
All I ask for is freedom
Is that what you call what your doing to me
    Praying show me lord
    Made you my idol
But you can’t breathe in a stone
    I’m sick of trying
    So I’m moving on

    Moving
Well will you strike me down
    A disbeliever
    A mortal who blasphemed
    Who besmeared your name
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes

  • Outright

Every time I reach inside to feel
Grab a piece of something wrong
Never seems to come out right
Every time I reach inside to feel
Take a little more time to search
Maybe next time it will all come out all right

Sometimes it seems I search to long
Never find a place where I can rest
Never find a place where I belong

Well when you look at me in my eyes
Can you see the things I do
Or do I stand alone again tonight

All I really need to know
    There’s truth out there
Or so I’ve often been told
    You can stumble upon it
Right there in the middle of the night
    Creeps up upon you
But will I turn my back
    And walk away in fright

    Change often comes
But not to those who wait
    I bid my time
Waiting for it to be just right
Joy may be what it brings
But I fear it will consume with fright
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes

It is sad to see such internal torture over regrets...we can't change the past...some hurts will always be with us, to help us learn...perspective on life can be a very powerful thing...what is important and what is not...one thing I have learned the hard way is that for as unworthy as a person feels about themselves, God does not see them that way...sometimes we just have to wake up and listen... :)
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!

I don't think that these are really coming from 'inside me'. They just spewed out, oozing jibber that landed on a piece of paper.

"The truth? You can't handle the truth!" :D

I liked this one. And the line "Change often comes but not to those who wait"---now, ain't that the truth! :) Subconsciously, this person knows the truth but just doesn't want to allow it to enter into concious thought. Must be SOME ugh-lay truth! :p

Thanks for pointing that line out!!

I had it stuck in my head. I jotted it down, and the rest was built upon it. I loved the line, and really wanted to use it.

I just made Love, It's been nearly one week
I just made Love, two hearts beating speak
Too long in the meantime, Time only forgives
Too long in the Dreamtime, the soul still, it Lives

Once, twice, maybe three times a charm
There's only so much, till a little death does harm

Still, does Love need such a puncture,
    A hole, not thy whole
Still, does Love need such a rapture
    Uniting that, my Soul

Now He sleeps in complete utter Bliss
And I, the Woman, of whom he will kiss
The Sun will rise, tomorrow in full bloom
My Lover, he wakes, his lips, I'll consume.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's Soul remains Unawakened.
    Anatole France
  • He saw her over the gulf of eternity
    Sitting under the great oak.
Her body swathed in pure white chiffon
    and lace,
    White and pure and soft.
    Her legs up
    Her body cradled over
the box... the box of gold..
    her gift.

    She sat there crying,
Her sobs touching every fibre of her soul.
For inside the box, was her gift,
of love, her soul, her desire, her need.
The precious seeds of her womanhood.

    With love
    those seeds would grow,
venture out of the box into the sunlight,
    and through their growth
    fill her life with color
    the beautiful perfume of flowers,
the wonder of birds and butterflies
    attracted by it's beauty.

    But her box was grey,
    Covered with years of neglect,
the seeds resting on bone-dry soil.
    Her heart in hibernation.
Her tears tracing lines down her cheek.

    He watched her.
    He understood.
    She fell asleep.

She woke to see him there
The box cradled lovingly in his lap
    Toolbox by his side.
He was a million miles away
    across the great gulf
yet seemed to be right next to her.
    And she watched,
as his loving hands treasured it
    wiped away the years
brought back the wonder of the gold,
made all the years of neglect disappear.
Time stood still as she watched.
    The gold was battered,
    dented and scraped,
marks of the pain in her life.
Each mark disappeared under his loving attention,
    each dent pulled out
    each scrape buffed clean.
Time, he seemed to have endless time,
as he focused his love on each flaw,
    one by one,
tears in his eyes as he understood the pain each one signified,
then erasing it with his loving hands.
The gentle light from his eyes,
and the water from his tears,
    nourished her seeds,
bringing life and beauty where there once was desolation.

    And then he was there,
    next to her.
She lost herself in his eyes
as he tenderly placed the treasure
    in her hands.
"Take it forever!" she started to cry,
but a gentle touch to her lips stifled the cry in her throat.
    "My love," he said,
God has placed us on opposite sides of a great gulf.
Only He can make that gulf disappear, and he will,
    in His own time.
Until then, we have His work to do,
    each on our own side.
When that work is done, He will look on us with favor,
for it is He who sent me to you."
He took her hands in his
touched his lips to hers, and said,
"But this promise I make: when you need me, summon me.
I will come to your side.
And every night I shall return,
    to wipe away every scratch,
    fix every flaw,
that life has put on your gift of your womanhood.
I will lie with you and ease your pain.
And when the gulf is gone,
    when eternity is ours,
I will place your gift in a place of honor,
So the world will see, and know
    That I treasure you
    your womanhood
    your love
    your life.
They will all know that you have finally received
    the love you deserve."

    And he was gone.
    She cried.

Then a soft voice was heard from all around her
    and inside her...
"My, child. When you thought it was a man you needed
I let you choose a man.
But he took your gift, and put it on a shelf
    To wither
    To die.
When you thought it was a lover you needed
    You chose a lover
Who simply used your gift as a stepping stool
to reach over the walls in his life which he despised.
No, it is not a man you need,
for a man cannot understand your heart.
And it is not a lover you need. A lover is like a firefly,
lighting your life for a moment,
then leaving you to deal with the darkness
    Until it flashes again.
So I have taken it into my own hands
and shown you what you truly need.
He is not just a man, though a man he is.
He is not just a lover, though a lover he is.
He is the man I have given you forever..
    He is your soulmate"
"When a man lies,He murders some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives,All this I cannot bear to witness any longer,
Cannot the kingdom of salvation,Take me home!"

Hey there, did you write Eternity.? Very insightful. and sympathetic.

No , it is not a man you need,
for a man cannot understand your heart
And it is not a lover you need.A lover is like a firefly
Lighting your life for a moment
Then leaving you to deal with the darkness
    Until it flashes again.

Do you have any more poems to share?
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's Soul remains Unawakened.

I have a plethora of words laced together to share. I try to put them in appropriate threading to not take up too much space. Thanks for the compliments!

That's really nice of you all to say such kind things. I've had much to be inspired by recently in so many aspects of my life. I'm just getting it outta my head, ya know what I mean jelly beans? Thank you so much.

    When you breath
    Is that normal
    Can you speak
    Just how you really feel
    Can you show
    Will you run to hide
    Does it grow inside
    Are you in a void
    Are you staring towards belief
    How far along
    When will you commence release

    I can feel it
    Grows inside of me
    I can feel it
    Rising up
    Reaching the surface
    Growing out on me
    Blistered skin
    Hide the new beginning
    Another layer
    Shedding off
    Exposing my new skin

    I am mine
    Slipping out
    Come to be exposed
    Shed my shell
    Release inside
    Adapting to my growth
    A new man
    Creature now a being
    What I was
    What will I be
    Where I’m at
    Where I’ll be set free
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes

  • Step back
    Breath in
    Let it go
    Let something new begin

    Can’t hold on for tomorrow
    For something I’ve never seen
    Can’t let go of sorrow
It’s the only place I’ve been
    These wings aren’t so heavy
    But they get dragged down
    They carry everything
Can’t give in to this despair
    But why not
Seems to be inclusive with everything

    I know
    They say
    Hold on
    There’s a rainbow
New corners can bring on anything
    I know
    They say
    Hold out
    Keep faith
    The righteous prevail through anything

    What lays before
    I don’t
    Think that I can wait
    Unfold
    Present
    Unveil
    What lies before
    Just show
    A tease
    What lies
Is there anything here for me

    Is that enough
    Something to believe
    No touch
    No sight
    Believe
    But seeing is everything
    No touch
    No feel
    How can I believe
I need to hold to know
Is anything going to be for real

    I reach the roof
Onto the ledge like so many times before
    To spread my wings
    Will they hold
    Is it faith
That would secure this one relief
    Is that enough
    To slow descent
    Or with crash
    Does that confirm
    Does it support all disbelief
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)

great reads depop...I always love how introspective they are and the words flow, kinda like we see the inside struggles and can relate...I liked the title too - what wings? wings don't work very well without faith, even a little bit of faith goes a long way :)

Thanks Twin. I really liked your reply.

I actually enjoyed singing this one. It is the first time in a while I actually had the urge to sing. I have been inspired of late...I don't know why. I think I have been hearing a lot of new music that is really good, and I kinda regained a bit of respect for the industry, and just started enjoying it again. Not saying my words are good or that they will ever go anywhere, but it is inspiring seeing music with depth getting reccognision again.

Not saying my words are good or that they will ever go anywhere, but it is inspiring seeing music with depth getting reccognision again.

Very cool! I am glad you are inspired, we all get to benefit from that! Doesn't matter if your words "go anywhere" but they are good and "going somewhere" is how you perseve it, you just don't know the influence you have on others when you share and if it touches even one person, well my thought is that is pretty fantastic...yeah, I get tired of the mindless airheaded music sometimes too, although some of it has a good beat... :)
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,

  • Pray to whom?

    Angels pray to god
    Down on their knees
    Locked within a cage
From which they can not fly
    Imprison souls
Seeing Earth only to help eat our sin

Serpents roam just as they please
    Betray the master
    Run amongst us
    Are they not truly free
    Telling lies
    Do whatever they may
    Nothing left to loose
    Where can they go
    Solitary place to stay

    fucking beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm absolutely floored by "Over the River". I haven't been able to read the rest yet....I'm still absorbing the first two. Over the River reminds me of me, and of my dad who died in 2003. He and I have so much in common. I'm trying to step out of his foot prints.

    Thank you for posting these.

thanks to both of you....BU2 and PJN.

for me, Over the river was kinda saying that I have made a lot of mistakes in my life, and hurt people that meant everything. For that, I shall recieve bad karma...for lack of a better way of saying it. I huess it's like once you cross a river and burn your bridge, it is hard to rebuild that bridge to get to the person on the other side while having to look at them looking at you in utter heartbroken disapointment.

Thanks all for your comments, and the excellent additions to the thread.
