Already saw a promo spot for tonights show on TV so I assume it already taped. Unless Will Ferrell was on Conan's old show a while back. He had on some lime green undershirt or something of that nature. 5pm west coast seems a little too short for editing and such.
that WOULD be cool if it's live. I'd be surprised though because of the hype for it to be live. they would have promoted it as such.

the shows aren't edited...they are shot in real time
i doubt they would tape at 1130 at night. As far as I know they only do that for the new years eve shows, and even that could very well be taped.
Conan of course has a young fanbase, but when I think of late night shows, I tend to think of older folks. And not too many are gonna go out to some studio at 1130 at night.

Ive never heard of a late night talk show that is shot in real time.
They tape at five west coast time and shoot the promos during the last commercial break. Anything that they've shown in promos so far has been old repurposed footage.

I'm confused. Whats meant by real time? Real time, as I am taking it, means Jay leno is on at 1135 and by saying it tapes real time would mean the show is live, meaning the show is taking place live at 1135.
This is false. We know this because fans who say PJ at Dave's show, said he tapes multiple shows on one day. Like they tape the Thursday and Friday shows together, and that the jokes in the monologue are deliberately about issues that wouldnt have changed over the course of one or two nights.
Again, people dont go to shows, as in talk shows, Conan, Jay, Leno and Letterman at 1135 or 1235 at night. They never did. Its crazy to think otherwise.
I remember when letterman said to stone or jeff "thanks for coming back again tonight", and stone and jeff kind of looked lost and then they laughed. Or multiple times on these late night shows a guest will talk about how they have other interviews to get to, or they will accidently talk about how its sunny outside right now. They do this because thats the truth. Brad Pitt aint gonna do another interview at midnight after being on a late night show, and a guest isnt going to call darkness light, unless thats the truth.
