The lack of guitar leads sounds kinda crappy, but Vitalogy-Binaural were fairly short on real lead guitar moments, so that could mean great things. BO'b seems to make some really interestingly layered albums.
Yet what I can tell you, it's that it's ever, ever so punchy. Eddies vocals sound more honeyed than raspy and there's a ballad stuck right in the middle that's just him and a guitar, but is absolutely drenched in strings. There's hardly any guitar leads either - personally I'm a fan of that anti-alt-rock thing* and I'd like to see them bust some more of that stuff out. But as collections of garage-y rock go, it's not like you miss them...
i'm not really sure what any of this nonsense means...but i can't wait to hear it!!

But the Ed ballad on the new album is layered with alot of strings. So, maybe Santa Cruz isn't on the album.
I like Santa Cruz, but I think it belongs as a 10c single. It just kinda has that sound.
