Just wondering where everyone is going to stay in Toronto. We're thinking about staying here:

Reasonable price and it seems to be a good location. I've never been to Toronto though so for all I know it could be in the ghetto. :?

I didn't really see any decent hotels that were within walking distance. Are there any?

Anyone coming to Toronto is crazy if they don't use Priceline. The deals in Toronto are ridiculous ...

There aren't. That is why you might as well just stay downtown and you might as well use Priceline.

Ditto. And don't worry about walking distance. The subway to Union Station, then street car or Go Train to Ontario Place, then walk from there to the amphitheatre.

Thanks for the advice. I expect someone with a username of "BeerBaron" might be inclined to go the extra step and steer us ugly Americans toward a proper pre- and post-show watering hole. We're far more tolerable after we've had a few (rather, after you've had a few).

Interestingly, 2 of the 3 times I have used Priceline in downtown Toronto this is the hotel I ended up with. Once I paid $34 a night per room and the other time I paid $42 a night. That is US dollars of course.

If you don't get that hotel, at worst you end up on Bloor Street, which is one or two blocks further from the venue (if you care) than the Courtyard is. In fact, it is another Marriott Hotel on Bloor St that commonly comes up on Priceline in the 3 star category along with the Courtyard.

I'll be leaving from Boston proper the morning (really early morning) of the show with my gf. We're gonna try to get into the city by 2 or 3, check in, then head over to the CNE before the show. We're spending the night in the city, catching the Blue Jays game saturday afternoon, then heading back. Should be back to Boston by 12 or 1a.m. Sunday morning. You're welcome to catch a ride if all that sounds good to you.

Its very nice! I've stayed there many times. Its only about 2 blocks from the College subway station too, which is then a sraight shoot down to Union station. If you like shopping, its right on Yonge, and very near the Eaton Centre.

I bid $45 for three stars downtown, and it rejected me but said a $58 bid would be accepted, which got me this place.

    Thanks for the tip, gang!

I ended up doing the priceline thing and also got the Westin Harbour Castle for $55/night. Sounds like there is going to be quite a few of us staying there. Hopefully they have a nice bar!

    nice bar; not cheap.

There is no hotel that is a quick walk to the Venue. Anything west of Yonge Street will work for you. Travelodge on King Street, Westin Harbour on Queen's Quay and about a dozen other hotels are all within 5-10 minutes (cab) from the venue.

What's not cheap? It has to be cheaper than beers at the venue. Are there any bars close to the hotel?

I bid $45 for three stars downtown, and it rejected me but said a $58 bid would be accepted, which got me this place.

    Thanks for the tip, gang!
To Priceline rookies, as a general rule of thumb, when Priceline rejects your offer but gives you a counter offer, they will usually accept an offer of about half of the difference. So, in your case, if you bid $45 and and they countered with $58, the difference is $13, so you could have got the room for around $51-ish.

Now, in order to do that you either have to wait 24 hours and bid again or you have to use free re-bids by adding zones without a hotel in that star class to your bid and that can get complicated for a first time user. But the best bet is to just wait the 24 hours. Sometimes Priceline takes a lot of patience.

  • I ended up with the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel for $64.00 using priceline.
Anyone else staying here.....is it close to the venue?
I'll be flying in Friday afternoon from CT.
hope to see a bunch of old friends at the show also looking forward to making new friends.

If anyone has an extra ticket, I will gladly pay for a hotel room for the night (to share).

Is this an offer we can't refuse? (Aw, c'mon -- I had to do it!)

    Yup. My example:
bid zone 3 (downtown) four star $55....rejected
added zone 11 (Toronto West) four star $60...got it
There are no four stars in zone 11 (Toronto West), so you're only searching downtown...
(more like $95 with exchange and tax for a Canuck, but I'm still happy! paid 2 bills for a dump the night of the 2000 show)

i'd say try offering a 1/3 of the asking ticket price, since that seems to be the general rule of thumb with Priceline for hotels,...

Anything is cheaper than the Venue! The following is a link for a pub which is not far from the Westin: http://www.martiniboys.com/Toronto/Wate ... tlife.html
