My dad and I will be making the trek from Toronto to Eddie's Albany show, and was wondering whether anyone can recommend attractions or restaurants that would be along the way, or in Albany. Thanks!

Depends on what you want to do or what you like? Throw some ideas out here, it is very diverse.

Drive to Albany or from Albany
    Niagara Falls
Anchor Bar - Buffalo NY - Home of the Chicken Wing
Dinosaur BBQ - Rochester or Syracuse NY - Awesome BBQ
Baseball Hall of Fame - Cooperstown

Albany NY has a bunch of restaurants and bars. Some bars and restaurants with in a mile of the Palace Theatre include:
    Bayou Cafe
    Jillians
    Red Square
    McGeary's
    Lombardos
    Victory Cafe

As for things to do in Albany, you can do an aquaducks tour which covers a lot of Albany area history. Albany is celebrating it's 400th anniversery.

The Lark Street area is like a village in the city atmosphere. Many bars and restaurants in this area. It is about a 20-30 minutes walk. Washington Park which was designed by Fredereck Law Olmstead's firm is near lark street.

A Tour of the NYS capital building can be had.

Definitely check out Saratoga Springs, I'll probably be staying there at a campground. There is some good hiking up around there and if you have time go to the race track if your into that.

Wolf's Bier Garten is just up the road from the Palace and it's a really cool bar and they have authentic German Food. You could park at the palce and walk the 1/4 mile up broadway. It's a cool spot.

Wolff's Biergarten is good b/c it's owned by the same people that own Bomber's Burrito Bar.

I am a big fan of the biergarden not so much of bombers. I do however love the Lark Tavern and I do like lionheart. I'm sorry, but bombers is lame. It is dirty and the bar upstairs sucks just my opinion don't hate me.

Where is everyone thinking about going for the pre-party/ bar drink spot. I would say the best bet is probably McGearys due to its proximity.

there are quite a few wineries up in the finger lakes region, i believe.

if you pass through rochester or syracuse, stop at Dinosaur BBQ.

Dinosaur BBQ is decent. I think Beale Street in Rochester place is much better:

One more food recommendation on your road trip. Abbott's frozen custard if you like ice cream. They're located all over upstate NY. Unbelievably good.

I went to college in upstate NY at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institue (RPI) in a city near Albany called Troy. Its nickname is, "The Armpit of America". The only bar I remember going to was a place called Elda's or something. Anyway, stay out of Troy ;)

The bars are open to 4 AM, so that is a plus. But the strip joints dont allow full nudity. I think. Correct me if I am wrong. I think they are just topless juice establishments. Not that I frequent those establishments  I guess that is all the info I have about the capital district. There isnt a whole lot to do.

Actually, Saratoga Springs is very nice though. Especially when it is horse racing season. I hope Pearl Jam plays Saratoga Performing Arts Center again. I saw Pearl Jam there in 2000 and it was a very beautiful venue.

Also, somebody else mentioned it, but Lake George is REALLY REALY beautiful, though it is pretty far out of the way.
