Just curious, but what makes you say that. He has a public image to uphold, and he has chosen rock star as his image. Away from the public, I have heard he's about as cool, humble, and normal as someone that was in the biggest band in the world could be.

That would be so cool to shake the man's hand and get an autograph from him... he's so larger than life, it's crazy to actually see him in person. When I saw him for the first time at a VR show a couple months ago I wasreal close - maybe 10-15 feet away from him, and it was intense. I mean, yeah, he's human. But he just seems so superhuman in albums, music videos, concert clips, etc, that it's weird to realize that he shits and he stinks, he's real join the club.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win
  • slash is a good guy. spoke highly of foo fighters today on howard stern. if you grew up as a highschooler in the 80s, slash was the bomb. gnr was the bomb. i miss the 80s. i miss the days of seeing bands like gnr, la guns, junkyard, jetboy, ratt, etc at the stone on broadway in sf right next to the strip clubs...
And I'm not living this life without you, I'm selfish and clear
And you're not leaving here without me, I don't wanna be without
My best... friend. Wake up, to see you could have it all

I saw him in a couple of interviews way back when. He does seem cool, and intelligent.

    Thanks for lettin me know!

But ya, he's one of those 'superhuman' ones. Like, hard to explain, but very few have that sorta image.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
  • On the guide he's listed third where they usually list the Musical guest so I don't know if he will be playing something or just an interview. I'm guessing just an interview, but who knows.

very true. i was 15 when appetite came out and had a friend that got a job in the mail room of a record label right out of high school. he had an advance copy of appetite and we knew we we're hearing something big. it took a little while for them to actually break, but when they did, it was HUGE...as we all know. to this day, i'm still pissed at him for getting one of our other friends into the ritz show that was broadcast on mtv instead of me.

If you grew up as a highschooler in the 80s, you're too old to be describing anything or anyone as "the bomb".

I heard him today on O&A, a really good interview, and the book seems interesting.

I also caught some of his interview on tv last night, and the one Axl story that was mentioned was funny, and typical of Axl, crazy.
I know someday you will have a beautiful Life

About to watch an interview on tv just now. Conan O' Brian.

  • I just read the book in like 2 days, couldn't put it down. It's kind of scary how people can get themselves into these self destructive patterns. One thing that got me was how he was saying that he was positive he was going to get AIDS and die from sleeping with so many porn stars and junkies without protection, but he kept doing it anyway! stuff like that I just don't get. Amazing that he became such a great guitar player so quickly though.

I applaud your metal taste. seriously.
my ipod is filled with 80's pop metal and the seattle bands of the early 90's.
It was a great time to be young.
And to that dick that laughed at reading the nikki sixx book...i've read the dirt, tommyland and i'm gonna read nikki's soon. mick mars won't have a book since he speaks even less than meg white.
And Slash is one of the coolest people to walk the planet. i'm gonna have to dust off one of my old headbangers ball recordings now.
