Undertow

The Waves are Crashing Harder Now
Shadowy Corners Receive Dim Rays of Light
My Heart Opens Wider to Feel Warmth
So, Hastily, I must Build the Wall
One can never be too Sure…or too Safe

My Sins Begin to Emerge as I Gasp for Air
Somehow not really caring if I Breathe
The Appeal of the Dark is Certain
Yet I strive on toward the Dawn
Ever Looking back…

As I ask, “for what?” I Realize -
Destruction is Preferred by the Insecure
Not Worthy enough for Love
Afraid of Loss, Avoiding the Inevitable
In Favor of Predictable Outcomes

A Lover’s Wounding Beats being Disregarded
The Illusion of a Stranger’s Desire
The Reality of My Missing Power
External Salve for Internal Aches
Still Bleeding after all these Years…

Allowing the Water to Deliver the Shore
The Glint of Solidity Beckons
As the Memory Haunts my Reasoning
And Entices my Doubt
Hindering the Knowledge of My Self

The Fruitless Wrestling of Demons
Enables Them a Fortress
Allowing Shadow Eases The Grip
Cages the Beast Away
Deceivingly Whispers the Tale of a Refuge…

it's like the anti-chaos theory.. and then, in the end, it's all about chaos, no matter how subtle.

    A quiet power.
I'm stepping in front of the gushing hydrant in a hurricane. I'd like to see the traction I keep.
