Slightly odd that this is Jerry Hannan performing the song at some random house concert; can someone confirm that this is actually the original singer guy?

    there is something about watching a person who wrote their own song singing it, you can tell he is into it

    sorry, i disagree.

    for example, i like the way joe strummer's version of "redemption song" sounds a lot better than the original.

    ...but that's just me...

    I know i'm biased, but i definitely prefer Ed's version. But only by a a very thin margin; hard to compare when there isn't actually an original studio recording by Jerry Hannan. Still, i think Ed's voice suits the song much more. It's smoooooooooooooth like chocolate!

    but since Ed recorded it first, his version IS the original, not a cover, the fact he didn't write it being irrelevant.. that's why it qualifies for the oscars/grammies.

    1 thing only I prefer in the Hannan version (his voice is nowhere as interesting as Ed's):
    the 'you can't do that' line..it really jars in Ed's version, but here it kind of works.
