i miss them sooo much...today i saw the video for "The drugs don't work"

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down

And I hope you're thinking of me
As you lay down on your side
Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

But I know I'm on a losing streak
'Cause I passed down my old street
And if you wanna show, then just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

But if you wanna show, just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

I'm never going down, I'm never coming down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more
I'm never coming down, I'm never going down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more

You know, I found this old cd with lots of random songs on that my sister used to listen to all the time when we were younger, and this song comes on.
I had forgotten how good this song actually is.

"Now the drugs don't work. They just make you worse, but I know I'll see your face again."

    I miss them.

Yeah....the Verve rocked. Its ashame they really didn't get much attention until Urban Hymns--at least in the states anyway. They had some great tunes though.
What?!? No, We can't stop here, this is bat country.

Thank-you for the post Obi-once. I am a huge fan of the Verve, but have never come across anything live by them. I look forward to putting this on CD and taking a nice walk with my CD walkman

Do you have any of their old cd's?? The Verve e.p. is a four or five song E.P. that runs for about 35 minutes and is a must have if you love the Verve, it's a beautiful masterpiece. Do you have any ashcroft solo albums? Very Verve like.

I play "The Drugs Don't Work" on my acoustic a la Ben Harper, but change the lyric to "The drugs don't work, they just make me worse", which changes the vibe of the song...

I remember reading somewhere that those were the ORIGINAL lyrics to this song, but the producer or someone talked Richard into changing it for the record.

yeah just know that you proly wont find their older cd's in best buy or something like that you'll likely have to go to soundwaves or a store that has more variety and even carries independent stuff...
