Weren't the SA shows in the 27 song range too most nights? Seems like the new normal. Will miss the 34-35 song sets, but can certainly understand that Ed may not be able to do that vocally any more.
Hard 11pm curfew at Ziggo, and I saw the big security dude who helps Ed when down with the crowd outside the venue at about 7:55pm assessing how long the line was still to get in... (it was REALLY long). So likely late start and hard end time in place.
I think you hit the nail on the head

They are getting old. How many 50+ year olds can you see running around for three hours and scream their heads off... It's a shame, but unless someone finds the fountain of youth... it's the way it is.

jam more please, number of songs doesn't matter....more jamming
Wrong! Go to a Phish concert if you want a jam session
This. The only song that should be “jammed out” and extended at this point is Of The Earth. No reason they shouldn’t be taking that one out for a 12-15 minute ride. But they are not a jam band. They always had the potential to be, but didn’t go that route. Extending Given to Fly to eight minutes long? Da whaa?? You mean like a Sirens outro sing- a-long? No thanks.

Not to mention they are listenable as well.
So no Bruce fans jumped in and he still got ripped on! Right now Bruce has been doing 2 hour shows for 4-5 nights a week so PJ is longer.
My two cents is the PJ shows will stretch a bit as the tour goes on. Not uncommon. Still looked like two good set lists and plenty of songs.

so you guys don't like the jam section of porch or RVM???? best part of the shows IMO
I'm going to consume whatever the boys throw out. I don't see anything wrong with a nice, tight 2.25 hour setlist. Just as long as they continue to mix it up every night instead of a repeat setlist like most bands.
I thought I was reading comments from this board when they referenced Dave screaming every night and smoking Seems to be a common issue among rock bands. No singer that does rock concerts will sound great forever.
It's a hopeless situation...

Bruce is in a class of his own. Nobody can keep up with his pace. He was regularly playing 4 hour shows by the end of his last tour. But that doesn’t make PJ slouches. They give you their all every night.
I just saw Def Leppard the last night at MSG and Joe Elliot didn’t do much more than stroll around the stage and point to the crowd and he still needed to take a break every 5 songs or so for a 17 song set. Bruce literally takes one 45 second break during a 4 hour show.

LOL. every time I have seen the Born In The USA video, I can't help but think he's trying to take a shit while singing.
was in Amsterdam on the 1st night, and a lot of people stayed on when the guys walked off the stage, in a bit of confusion... my friend and myself included - we thought they'd be back for an encore {there only seemed to be one} but when the road crew started to unplug the amps and carry the guitars off, we got the picture... seemed weird, somehow, and Mike appeared a little confused himself... the show was awesome {yes, a lot of 'sub-brilliant'/predictable songs, according to some die-hard fans who posted on Facebook} in my opinion, i was hoarse and near-deaf, which is a winner in my books!!
I thought their shows were too long before TBH, so this is kind of good news to me personally. People would start leaving before the end of their shows before, and they made it so people in the pit were on their feet (and unable to go pee if they had a good spot) for over 6 hours sometimes. But I understand that some people loved the marathon shows, so get why some might be disappointed by them shortening them up to something closer to normal. Perhaps they got really sick of paying tons of money for breaking venue curfews, which I gather they did semi-regularly in the past, so made the decision to stop with the 3+ hour shows in general so nobody would expect them to go overtime anymore. Plus... Eddie's voice. I feel quite sure that his voice box can't take the strain anymore. Even his latest studio work reveals that.

yeah it has to be tough on the pipes...my friend posted a video of Glorified G from the other night and the "always, keep it, loaded" vocal was pretty strained. I know Ed has said on stage that a song like Blood pretty much wipes out your vocals for the night.
but Grohl has really been hard on his voice...he screams all the time. No way that can last

they are terrible. no one should go anymore. everyone should give up on them. I'll take your ticket for Wrigley night 1 off your hands
Pfft. Very true... It seems like something insignificant changes with this band, and everybody assumes they are getting old, or are calling an end to touring. This band has been loyal since the early days. Things out of their control... curfews, waiting until everybody is in the building is not cause to worry. Festival sets will always be shorter, curfews do not want be ignored, especially overseas, and they haven't played since March.
Comments
I think the sets will probably average around 29 songs once all the shows are in the books.
the American Ballpark sets will be longer.
