Wrigley show August 18th show merchandise question

hey guys,

I had a question on how hard it will be to get a poster/merchandise for the wrigley shows. This will be my wife’s first show plus we are pregnant and this will be baby’s first show!!! Needless to say we want merchandise and posters for this special time in our lives. I was just asking to see if anyone could give tips or advice for us trying to achieve these.

Thanks

kyle

I would just have your wife go near the front of the line and start crying, that should do the trick.

Spent 4 hours and 15 minutes standing in lightning and a monsoon with my extremely understanding husband and friends.

I heard Wrigley 2013 was far worse.

There are plenty of posters before and after the show if you are not picky and just want a poster. If you want a popular poster then you are going to have to put some time in.

Well, four of the five 2016 Fenway posters are still in the Shop.  A couple of the Wrigley ones were probably available for quite awhile, and the favorite posters of the two shows sold out pretty quickly.

So, assuming you aren't picky and the band still has 4-5 posters per show, you can probably buy one without too much trouble if you are willing to spend an hour or so waiting in a line (shortest line is the one for waiting in line for the gates to open and buying in the stadium, but then you can't take the poster back to hotel).  You just may not get the "hot" poster of the weekend.    Or just enjoy the weekend and if you see a short line and get lucky (great), or just wait for the sale on the Ten Club site or pay a little premium on Ebay once things settle down.

I won’t be picky at all. As long as we come home with a poster and a shirt/merchandise

Yeah, if you are going to both shows then I would just get to the gates an hour before they open so you are close to first in line with the doors open.  Then just walk quickly to one of the merch booths and should have 95% odds to get a poster.  If you like 4 hour waits though then you can get in line for the outside merch booths.  Last time there were 3-4 outdoor booths but even with that many lines were super long because there is so much stuff you can buy it takes people forever to order.

Wrigley 2016 had almost everything still available after night 2 in the March booths. Still some in the shop. I bought the Molly Ringwald poster on eBay the day before the first show for less than $70 shipped and that was the only one sold out at the first booth I went too on night 1. They’ll probably balance it out a little more this time. 2013 was a shitshow

I sure hope they stick to just one or two and in large quantities.

Best of luck if you decide to endure the long time that is merch lines.

There was merch booths inside also. We went into the stadium as doors opened and got all our stuff within 10 minutes of being inside.

I spent over four hours on a very muggy afternoon queuing outside the Metro before the 2016 gigs. You make friends in the queue, but then there's others who groan and give up. Good luck.

I heard it was better for people who chanced their luck during the shows.

This is what we did at Wrigley 2 years ago. As long as you don't have GA, then it's easy peasy.

In 2016 - gotnin line to enter Wrigley a little before it opened. Immediately got in merch line. Probably took 45-60 minutes and they had basically everything available.

That's what we  did in Boston 2016.  We lined up an hour before at one of the gates and were the first ones in.  We were able to purchase everything we wanted including "the catch' poster.  planning to do that in Seattle as well assuming the outside lines are 4 hour waits.

Are they still going to sell merch a few days early like they did last time?  That's one way to do it, assuming you live close to the venue.

You could line up on the off day to get any merch you want. Sacrifice your time so you both don't have to spend time in line on show day. On show day you and your wife don't have to stress about merch and you can just chill and enjoy yourselves.

Might want to keep an eye out for baby stuff, like a onesie.

You’ll be able to get stuff inside. Don’t waste your time in line outside. I got the shirt/posters I wanted inside

Don't be a person lining up for outside shops the day of the show:
    - Line up to get into the stadium and buy inside
    - Line up on off day in between for outside shops
    - Cross your fingers and wait for demand to drop and buy online on this site

I wouldn't be surprised if they printed as many posters as the 2016 shows. Shirts should be easy to get at the stands - it's the in-demand posters that sell out quickly.

As stated, the easiest way is to get in line to enter the stadium an hour or two before gates open, then it will be easy to buy whatever you want.

But with your wife pregnant, and you possible wanting to show up with her much later...then you might want to go the harder route and show up the day before (by yourself, leaving her at home/hotel) and wait in the 3-4 hour merch line outside the metro (assuming they do it like they did last time). If you do that, you could then show up at the stadium at 7pm on show night, which would be easier for her.

Another point...it seemed like in 2013 everything was hard to get. In 2016 it seemed like most things were easy to get, even in the middle of shows, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if they cut back a bit on how much stuff they make this time around. It seemed like they had a ton of extra merchandise from the Wrigley/Fenway shows 2 years ago, which wouldn't be ideal for the band.

No need for you and your pregnant wife to stand in line for hours.  Since you said you won't be picky, I'll help you with at least one poster. Regardless of if I make the show or not. IF.. it's like'16, I'm sure I can help you get at least one poster; whether it be here or at the venue. When it comes to shirts, those are available inside, and if you are not picky with that either, I'm sure one of the generic tour shirts will be available, along with maybe/hopefully, one or two of the posters.. as long as you're there when the gates open.

Unless standing in line for hours in the heat of summer with a possibly hormonal pregnant wife is in your bucket list.  If it is, I will retract my offer. Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS!

    Skip the merch insanity.

It will only make you guys angry and tired. Get the bootleg (better souvenir than any poster or shirt) and you'll find plenty of posters available later. Look at how many are available for close to cost for Fenway and Wrigley 2016.

Just my opinion. I live in Chicago and I would still never spend hours in line for stuff. It'll be hot and humid. Enjoy the city and relax up to show time.

    I concur.

waited 4-5 hours outside before 2016 show. waited 30 min after the show to buy another shirt and baseball cards.

I love PJ but I have enough merch to not blow 5 hours of chicago vacation time, again, standing in line.

Got all of my Wrigley merch in 2013 and 2016 from the inside booths.  The outside booths are madness.  There are sneaky ways to get into Wrigley.  If you find them, your trip to the merch booth feels like winning the lottery!
