I’m not even sure anyone on here gave trump praise or credit for the hostages’ release (i sure didn’t). I do know the first post was about the release announcement and the next thing you know, everyone starts saying trump is an ass hole. Where did that come from? It’s weird to me. We could get a news flash saying a scientist cured cancer and everyone would say trump sucks and why does he deserve credit. Lol. I’ll let the more brilliant minds discuss this one.
I didn't give Trump credit for it. From what I can tell, Trump's basically done nothing besides suggest a meeting. I give Kim Jong Un the credit for the release of the hostages - I saw nothing to suggest this release was specifically negotiated. Seems more like Un just decided to it. If there were negotiations of any sort, I've seen nothing to suggest that Trump was involved in them. Un is also the one who requested this upcoming meeting between him and Trump. Trump gets credit for agreeing to attend I guess, although it's probably far too early for that, since we don't know what Trump is going to do at the meeting, and I think we're all justified in worrying about that. Is Trump going to be left alone with Un?? Trump says a lot of crazy shit a lot of the time - I'm worried about him being alone in a room with the second craziest leader in the world. Best to wait until after that before handing out kudos. We all still need to wait and see how all this shit turns out. It could easily go bad, considering the two major players.
    "Trump basically done nothing?"
You give Kim Jong un credit for the release?
Trump & Pompeo said release the 3 Americans, or no meeting will occur. Come on now.  The release wasn't negotiated.  It was a precondition of the meeting.

There was no attack on the thin-skinned U.S. president, but if Trump thinks he can brag about squeezing North Korea to give up all its nukes, he’d better think again.

I do not hide my "feelings of repugnance" toward Bolton, either. Nice to see they are shared.

    lol

In a statement carried by the North Korean news agency, obviously with Kim Jong Un’s approval, the first vice-minister of foreign affairs, Kim Kye Gwan feigned something close to heartbreak on hearing such “unbridled remarks” being “recklessly made” in the United States, and singled out Bolton in particular: “We do not hide our feeling of repugnance toward him.”

Their excuse was that they were planned a long time ago.... and they chose not to cancel it. They somehow think this is a good excuse, I dunno.

Stupid people. I was happy to believe we'd finally have peace on the Korean peninsula and that North Korea would develop economically to help the impoverished people there.

The talks still will take place.  The thought of extracting money from the west is to tempting for little man. The US/South should have called his bluff and said "meetings are off"...

Trump has raised the expectations of the meeting to the point where the US is now in a terrible negotiating position.  Trump claims that he will provide security "guarantees" to the regime.  But what guarantee can Trump possibly provide that is stronger than the one NK currently possesses; nuclear warheads?  Kim is negotiating for economic sanction relief for guarantees of peace.  He will never give up his warheads.  Why would he?  It literally makes no sense.

To further bolster the point, the US and SK called off the planned exercises in the Peninsula to avoid jeopardizing the talks.  Does that sound like a team negotiating from a position of power?

Trump has been duped and it was all too easy because of his outsized ego and giant mouth (and fat fingers).

I agree... And how do they know the next administration won't pull out of those security guarantees? (See Iran deal)

exactly.  When Trump left the Iran deal,  it raised the stakes of Trumps bar.  He must have the treaty ratified by the Senate now.
