STOLEN: BENAROYA Hall LP Box #1092 (taken between 4/13/18 - 4/15/18 from Raleigh, NC 27603)

As the title so miserably indicates.
Being kindhearted backfired like an old Dodge Dakota when an abused woman to whom we gave superabundant aid felt her need to be still so great that clearly her only salvation could come from the taking of my box of acoustic eucharist.

Yup.
It's a tragedy that could have been avoided.
I was (am) in a tight spot, and in such times check the value of the old wonder box to see if she could be my salvation if only I had the heart with her ways to part.
After checking the value on Ebay's completed auctions, I exclaimed, and oh-so-foolishly showed the phone screen to her.
Almost immediately after doing so, I realized my stupidity.
I hid her soon thereafter.

However, this weekend my partner and I had to attend a wedding out of town.
I locked my bedroom door, but it's the shitty kind you unlock from the outside with a bobby pin.
When we came home this morning, my roommate was here along with his guest (the woman in question), but the old beauty was not to be seen (or heard).
My arrival appeared to trigger her desire to depart and with her hasty exit the play appears to have finished it's penultimate act.

How the final act plays out we can at this time only surmise.
I am obliged to file a report with the police to even get any cooperation from the pawn shops.
I will post here, on craigslist, and notify Ebay if i can figure out the appropriate method.
Any suggestions from you locals on other ways to handle this godsmack of a situation and get the word and description out, i'm all ears...

RIP

It's a pretty shitty situation, I hope you're able to track it down and get it back.

Holy shit. Nice detective work. No coincidence that this place is in Raleigh. I hope @DriftingByTheStorm can get it back.

I tried to call them just now to tell them the item is stolen, but no one picked up.

I guess the lesson here is, don't mess with ten club!

If the person that stole it sold it to Nicepricebooks they probably at the very least have her signature.  With the amount of money that was exchanged they may have more than that!!  Contact the police and have them investigate it!  Like someone else stated she could get charged with a felony!  Do you have any proof of ownership??

Wow. I literally just saw this boxset for sale on discogs and actually logged on to post a heads up on Lost Dogs about a Benny Hall for sale for less than $1000. Yep, #1092. Doesn't seem like the seller knows it was stolen - looks more like the lady the OP knows sold it to the seller (for too little) without his knowledge? Now what??? I'm thinking the best thing to do is to contact discogs to get the sale pulled? Or what? I have no idea how you'd go about getting back a stolen item that is up for resale. Perhaps calling the cops is indeed the best idea, now that it's tracked down.

I think the fact he posted it as #1092 would be pretty solid proof if this turns out to be #1092.

Drifting, I always have appreciated your input on these here boards and I'm sorry it took so long for you to come back - for THIS.

Best of luck on retrieving your treasure; I think you will.

I took a screenshot of the sale in case it gets pulled and the seller isn't cooperative.

Unfortunately I think you would need the cooperation of the seller. Just being in the same city I doubt is enough. If they give up that it is #1092 then there's enough to move forward. If he just closes the listing he can say he sold it privately, then I doubt there's anything you can do.
I'm no detective, that's just what I would guess.

Not in the real world.  If it comes down to proof of ownership, a post on the internet will not do.  I could have easily came on here yesterday and made the exact same post as Drifting......
