  • Generally what has been the 10c ticket eligibilty for shows? How long do you have to be active? Asking for a friend who was thinking about signing up today.

As long as you're a member before the ticket announcement, you should be all set.
  • I'm so jacked and can't wait for this to happen. Best birthday present ever
  • Arent there cheap hotels in Seatlle? How can they be soooo far more expansive than in Sweden... Or are the PJ-connected ones classy places?
Nothing is really cheap in Seattle, we also have one of the highest sales tax in the country.
Sweden has 25% on goods (12% on food and hotels, 6% on books/newspapers). CAN YOU BEAT THAT SEATTLE?!
10% sales tax. #1 in the country for liquor taxes (20% i think). Top ten in taxes for gas and cigarettes. Oh and they just passed a sugary soda tax too. $1.75/ounce.

I love shows and any news of them...

I am not a fan of the stadium shows though.  Diminished acoustics and fan experience.  Been there, done that.  Its not special anymore.
    My sentiments, also.

    ENJOY, to those who go.
It is what it is. Too big of a band to do small intimate shows anymore. Gotta take what you can get.
They aren't too big for arenas though. I think that's where they are at the best. I agree the ballparks aren't great - that's why I'm going GA or bust for these.
I hear ya. I prefer the smaller shows too. But considering how hard it is to get tix to any show now..........they actually might be too big for arenas now.
Only in the huge markets on the East Coast, Chicago, and LA and such. In all the smaller cities it is actually pretty damn easy to get tix. Many of their arena shows didn't even sell out in 2013 and 2016, or if they did, it took a little while. I don't think they're too big for arenas in most places. These ballpark shows they are doing now... that seems to drum up interest simply because of the venue and not so much because of the band (Seattle excluded). Although if all they are going to do now is 6 ballparks in an entire year, yeah, tix aren't going to be hard to get. They need to play more shows than that to make it easier for fans. That said...... They might still announce an arena tour for the fall. Some people seem to be assuming this is all that's going to happen in 2018 in North America. I suspect otherwise. If they're going to release a new album, they need to do more than that.
This has probably been said before, but ballpark shows in big cities make perfect sense for where the band is right now as individuals and as a group. They've had a bunch of side projects going on and don't seem to be all that interested in embarking on a massive world tour without an album to support. By playing a few ballparks that they can easily sell out, they keep themselves out there for the hardcore fans without having to go through the logistical rigors of a typical tour or the strain of playing 4-5 shows in a single week.

Play stadiums in big cities near other big cities, have their loyal fans come to them rather than vice versa, take a week or two off in between shows, bring in double the audience of an arena at each ballpark show without worrying about ticket sales, get the hype train here rolling again as people make show plans and talk about setlists, make some good money, put out some bootlegs and maybe a DVD to boot, call it a day. It just makes sense.

It's not like their purpose with these shows is to bring in any new fans. They are aware that most of the folks attending these shows are the same folks who have been attending shows for the past 2 decades. Not until they have a new album to try to introduce to new people should we expect a bigger tour. There's just no point in doing it for a band like Pearl Jam.
Yeah, it's fine when there is no album to support. But I'm saying that I think there is going to be an album to support.

The ones booked by 10C are a little high in price with a lot of amenities, but they're not that much more than most other places, and a lot less than some. It's just because it's Seattle in the summer. The hotels charge what people will pay, and Seattle is one of those cities where housing prices are skyrocketing through the stratosphere right now. And where housing prices do that, hotel rates tend to follow (in the high season). It is too bad.

Has anyone thought of Air B&B instead of hotels? That's the route we're taking. Lot's of them around in Seattle and surrounding area. Close to buses and light rail. Hop on the bus. It's a pretty decent transit system.
Thats what I did. It was a steal compared to the cost of hotels
Someone else mentioned the irony of the hotel rates considering that the shows are in support of the homeless.... Well, same goes for airBnB, lol. Some people feel that airBnB actually plays a role in homelessness in places where rental rates are really high and availability is low (like in Seattle and several other cities around the world), because those who would normally rent long term now use airbnb to only rent short term, which reduces rental availability, which helps increase homelessness.... I'm not ragging on you for using it. I'm just sayin'. It's something to think about when turning to airbnb. It is actually why I don't use it. I know it doesn't fit in with capitalist ideals, but I actually think airbnb shouldn't even be legal for certain types of properties. Buy hey, I'm a socialist.

  • As a local, my advice would be to find an VRBO or hotel in West Seattle, the Grove is a reasonable option. Traffic in Seattle is brutal and parking will be rough and expensive in the stadium area. From West Seattle you can take the water taxi, a passenger-only ferry for $5, drops you right on the edge of pioneer square, 10 minute walk to Safeco, lots of bars and restaurants right there. Depending on when the show ends you might have to Uber back to west seattle. As a bonus, Sub Pop records is having their 30th anniversary celebration in West Seattle on Alki Beach, free live music all day on Saturday. And you can go have breakfast at Easy Street records, check out the Pearl Jam pop up store, photo gallery and the best selection of vinyl in the city.

Maybe the highest concentration of billionaries in any city in the US (Seattle) can pitch in to fight the homelessness problem within said city.  Props on Pearl Jam for doing their part, as always!

Did anyone see that other live Instagram video yesterday? It was grainy as hell, but I think it was at Zillow's headquarters, and I think I heard Eddie Vedder's voice in it. From what I could discern, they projected stuff on the side of the building or something.

Also, FYI, there's an Embassy Suites opening up this May I believe in the Century Link field parking lot.  That would be another option to book that might not show up on booking sites yet.

I checked that yesterday, and it's already booked solid. Not so secret anymore I guess, lol.

  • How much of the field is going to be GA? Thinking about buying a membership for my wife so we can potentially score 4 tickets together in GA but I don’t even know if that’s possible. Really wish I knew before I blow $20 on a membership.

I know now hotels are a hot subject, I booked the Moore Hotel a few days ago. It’s a nice hotel only 1.5 miles from Safeco and I got a room with 2 Queens for only $159.

Quick question.   what is parking like around Safeco?  I'm looking at hotels that are google mapped to be about a 10 minutes drive.  Would i be better off driving or Uber?  I will be flying in and renting a car.  Also looking for advise for hiking trails.  Specifically around Mount Rainer.
You'd be much better off if you take an Uber from your hotel. Parking garages and lots will run around $50 or more for the event based on past experiences. Whenever there's a Seahawks or Mariners game, you can bet it's going to be at least $50. There is very minimal street parking, so I would advise Uber.

We don't even know if they will have a GA yet. It is a gamble that I would take. It is just 20 bucks.

Think they’ll allow you to enter the lottery if you join 10C after the announcement? I sure hope not

Yeah, no kidding. That wouldn't be fair at all. People in other threads said they've been telling all their friends to join after yesterday's big announcement, so I hope that won't come into play when lottery time rolls around.

No; usually the date of the cutoff for being a member (for a lottery such as this) is before the announcement was made.  We will see when it comes out.

In anticipation for the lottery, thinking about what my first choice should be. My only stadium experience is having reserved seats way at the back. What is it like to be in GA? If you aren't near the front, can you see anything? Would middle to back of GA be equivalent to reserved seats?

Also curious about this. I had an amazing GA spot in Ottawa in 2016, but the GA area was tiny. My wife and I are both on the short side (5'4), so I'd hate to be stuck mid-to-back GA and not able to see anything.

for Wrigley we ended up getting in the lineup around 4pm.  We did ok.  We got to the centre of the pit about 12 to 15 people deep from the stage.    We could see everything pretty good and had a great time.   The pit was huge though, and way more densely populated than an arena pit.  Watching the bluray, it's crazy how wide they made it.   It was narrower at the front, but at the back it got superwide, and I would imagine the viewing angles from the sides of it couldn't have been that great?

So, I've might have gotten a friend be interested in tagging along. He grew up in an upper-middle-class family in the better part of town though. I don't really know how to act around those kind of people. The people who had two cars, all the expensive Turtles toys and good white-collar jobs at SAAB. Going to the other side of the world might be a bit much.

for N2, we started lining up around 4:30 and managed to get to side stage, below the screen... Stone side, 3 people deep... probably the closest I've been to...anyhow, viewing angles were actually decent, nice crowd.. we were standing beside Danny McBride, kids on the side as well
