Swedish customs want $102 from me for a tenclub package.

So exciting! WHAT COULD IT BE?

PS. How about getting a European shop up and running @Santos L. Halper? If the canadian
queens of indie rock Tegan and Sara can do it, why is it so hard for arena rockers Pearl Jam?

Its where you clear customs yourself by paying only the taxes at the border office, you don't pay the ups fees which are often more than the taxes. Id call whomever sent you the bill and ask if you can self clear. Not sure how it works in Sweden but it saves you a lot in Canada.

Sounds like a Swedish issue more than a 10c issue

? The fees dont have anything to do with 10c the extra fees that you avoid are from the carrier, UPS etc.
Its like if you drove across the border, youd only be charged taxes, when ups or fedex or any carrier deliver they charge you tax plus all their fees, self clearing avoids those fees.

It's an issue for a lot of international fans now. It's not 10 clubs fault at all. Border forces, mail carriers and customs departments seem to have really cracked down on importing goods through the post. And in the case of mail carriers they are generating revenue from the charges associated with the tax. The rules were always there just not enforced all that much.

Edit : not enforced by national mail carriers on the whole, ups etc have always gouged as much as possible in my experience.

I agree that an EU store would be great for fans over this side of the pond. I have bought very little from 10c for quite some time now and won't do unless I can't get it anywhere else.

Well, the fees don't have anything to do with 10C directly, but 10C doesn't have to use UPS. If they used USPS International wouldn't we be better off?

Nope, not now that pretty much everything over $20 gets dinged. It's actually cheaper to go through UPS.  If they use USPS You automatically get charged $9.95 and you can't avoid that.

?? Where? This doesn't happen to me. If anything under probably $100 is sent to me from anywhere, as long as it is funneled through Canada Post and not delivered by the international carrier directly, I don't pay anything.

You should buy a lottery ticket then because you're the only person that hasn't been hit. There's multiple mentions and threads about it all over. In the last year customs has majorly increased their checking.

Here in the good old USA we don't have to deal with import tariffs or VAT...so at least we've got that going for us

You have to pay the VAT (which is 25% in Sweden) + a flat fees when parcels are not sent from the EU.
I know it’s a pain but it has nothing to do with Ten club.
Nevertheless, I understand your point, I had to pay 81€ for the complete vinyl box set (VAT is 20% in France + 15€ for the flat fee)...If I add the insane shipping fees, the box set has cost me closed to 500€ and I should not have bought it because it is clearly not worth this amount.

not a euro store, can you imagine the Americans bitching when a single item is listed there but not in the US?   Makes sense to have a Euro shop-
