Who You Are lyric change

why were the lyrics, “circumstance, clapping hands”changed to “Avalanche, falling fast” on recent versions of the song. Avalanche even sounds awkwardly dubbed in.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I prefer it with "avalanche". It makes more sense to me.

Wasnt there a theory around here that is was a mistake not picked up on by the band?

Could have been, I don't know.  I just prefer the former, the original recording.

Most of the differences on Lost Dogs for songs that had been previously released were alternate takes, vs. re-recording or overdubs.

Footsteps has the harmonica part layered on, Brother has the vocals stripped and a Mike part re-recorded for that release.

To the best of my knowledge the variants of  Black Red Yellow, Hard to Imagine, Wash, Drifting, Dirty Frank are alternate takes.

"U" I've never given enough mind to in order to really know if that is a re-record or simply an alternate existing take.

You mean they did more than 1 take of Dirty Frank?

I remember the theory that floated around was the original was damaged or lost, and thats what they had to go with.
I dont think anything was ever confirmed. They still do the original version live don't they? So that would make sense that it was an unintentional change or that they had no choice because it was damaged or lost.

It is a completely alternate take, not just a different vocal.  It is possible that a new vocal was tracked over an alternate take, but I'd have to listen closely it sounds very similar to some other versions of Alone from rough mixes on ten.
