I get what they are doing and it will be a "nice" release like Live on 2 Legs.

Having said that, they should realize "the collectors" just want a boot of the whole show and not tease the F out of this cutting up 2 nights which I think very few of us here would prefer.

So can we expect an official announcement on August 10?
Hopefully.  If Amazon's saw it on some kind of inventory sheet and posted it to the website, you would thing that's a strong indicator of an imminent release.

Hope this awesome. Thankful I got the full Fenway boots last year.

The shows took place at Wrigley, Ed loves them, and they won it all. How could you realistically ask for no Cubs baseball bullshit? That is the perfect setup if you ask me.

edit - I do hope that the bootlegs will also be released like every other show though.

I would hope that they know their fanbase well enough that releasing the full shows at least on bootlegs would be a no-brainer.  Hoping that there is some sort of deluxe edition of the blu-ray that has the full show or shows.

Maybe we should wait until the full item descriptions are out.

Just no Cubs baseball bullshit, please.
The shows were at wrigley, the front man is a huge Cubs fan. You have 0% chance of no Cubs baseball bullshit in this release.
And "Let's play two" is a famous catch phrase uttered by Ernie Banks, Mr. Cub, throughout his career.

Even if the let's play 2 thing is only for last year's shows, which would make sense, All the Way with Ernie Banks HAS to at least be a bonus feature doesn't it? I mean is t just has to be.

This is great and all if it's true but if they don't released the full boots of each night as well I'm gonna be pissed. I didn't wait a year to get someone else's highlights. That would be bullshit.

Seriously though, that was a classy gesture. It wasn't the dude's fault they lost. Cubs fucked themselves in that game.

given the cubs history with curses, I'm thinking it was more of a marketing ploy than classy gesture

And let's not forget there was still one more game to be played, in which they lost again. But yet some classless meatballs terrorized that poor guy. Low moment in Chicago sports fandom.

And this is coming from a SOX fan where we rush the field and try to stab opposing team's first base coaches. It's just what we do.

I'm hoping at minimum an Immagine in Cornice style Blu Ray with cuts of both 2016 Wrigley shows, peppering in the Murphy's set, 2013 highlights, and Eddie's time with the Cubs (seventh inning stretch, VHS of him walking around in the 90's, maybe some world series footage).

My wallet is warming up for some $150+ super deluxe vinyl/blu ray/cd/digital/pennant/book package. Hoping the Third Man show gave them ideas on how to package up this release.

I think everyone should stop worrying that they will release the full boots of 2016.  They said they were holding them back.  I read that as they will be released. 2013 will probably be an eventual Vault release I'm guessing.  It will be a nice surprise when it comes, WHAT A MEMORABLE NIGHT. And as far as complaining about the release being Cubs related let me quote Ed announcing the Cubs score from the 2016 Columbia show  " I know a lot of you don’t care but I don’t care that you don’t care."

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd actually I'd prefer a fuckton of Cubs bullshit in this box set (if that's what it ends up being).  The highest priority obviously would be to release the **complete audio from both 2016 shows** and it would be cool to throw in 2013 as a nice gesture to all of those with pit tickets who suffered through the rain delay while I relaxed in the comfort of a dry, sheltered seat with easy access to Old Style and troughs, but I'm not expecting it.

Two complete show Blu-Rays would be awesome, but it's probably going to be a compilation of the two -- I agree with the consensus on that.  I just hope it has more of a nice natural concert-like flow to it rather than the way Cornice was done.  Or, make a separate limited run Deluxe Version where we can get complete Blu-Ray footage of both shows too.  Obviously they'll include the Murphy's rooftop set somewhere, perhaps in some kind of bonus disc, but I'd also love to see how Ed and Theo and the players partied like... well... like the impossible just happened.  I'm still to this day in a state of disbelief.  Decades of expected futility as a lifelong middle-aged Cubs fan will do that to you I guess.  I was an emotional wreck just like Ed, so let's see the footage on a bonus disc!

Theo's famous month-long bender had just gotten underway when this happened:

The dude partied all night and sprayed fans waiting outside Wrigley with champagne while wearing the Cubs mascot's head.  At least Theo was wearing pants, which even a supposedly sober Clark the Cub can't seem to manage.  The guy seems as genuinely happy as Ed is and the bonus disc should include tons of footage like that.

It's pretty clear the two of them share a special bond, so a quick look into the nights and days they spent celebrating such an amazing occasion would be pretty cool.

I guess Ed performed some acoustic shows at players' rooftop parties (Lester maybe?), so it's possible they have some good footage there too. And please no John Cusack or Jim Belushi, but give us all the Bill Murray you can find.  Of course, fair is fair. We wouldn't want to completely disgust all the Whitesox and Cardinals fans among the PJ family, so this should absolutely stay on it's own separate disc, clearly labelled with a Cubs logo, or something similarly obvious -- like a frame from this famous GIF:

That way the bonus disc could easily be thrown away, recycled, shredded, used for target practice, etc... by the haters.

I predict we probably won't even get half of what I described above, but I'll be very happy nonetheless.

  • my2handsmy2hands Posts: 17,117
Of course some wrigley/cubs stuff will be featured... of course it's going to be a Touring Band style mash-up of both 2016 shows... of course the 2016 will eventually be released

The only real questions to me is will any 2013 footage be used, which seems likely... and is there a deluxe boxset and will that feature more of the 13&16 shows?  and when and if the 2013 boot will ever be released? it wasn't their strongest performance so I'm not so sure it's vault material... I think the London warmup show is the future vault release... maybe it gets a regular boot release with the 16 shows down the road
