It is, but I'm about ready to write 2017 off. Just don't think anything is happening. Happy to be wrong though.

That band is long gone I'm afraid... too afraid to alienate part of their fanbase... especially considering the fact the vast majority of their fanbase is white males...

    It's a shame really

I think the band should take at least another 2yrs off and come back w/ a solid album and tour.  The Cornell stuff, President Trump and multiple terrorist attack shit needs a rest.
Pearl Jam needs to be recharged w/ the music.

Naw, the band has always done whatever they wanted and I respect them for that, even if we don't agree ;)

You think they're afraid to alienate part of their fan base with their politics?  Ed is still pretty vocal about where they stand IMO. I'm not saying they would/should do a tour like that, but I don't think fear of alienating the fan base would be a factor.

The Bush anger era was fun at the time. Now I don't want to go to a PJ concert only to be overshadowed by their thoughts about President Trump.

^^ I'm with you 100%.  I'm there for the music.  That said, I still don't think they're afraid of alienating the fan base by speaking their views.

This is a band that canceled a show last year for political reasons and did a political tag at MSG and I just read how they're afraid to alienate their fans via politics?

PJ's at their best when they aren't trying to please everyone.  Some fans might have to choose between their love of PJ or their love of Trump.  That's life.

When they DO tour they should do a 'kids under 12 get a Tambourine' thing at the door to spare the rest of us the agony of watching that play out live.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Not to turn this into a political thread at all, but I think the band is never really "afraid" to express something if they really want to. And I've always believed you can enjoy someone's art if you don't agree with the views of that particular artists. It's all good. I mean - if we required a litmus test from our friends/family/idols - we probably wouldn't have any. Plus - the band seems to have always respected different opinions. Hell, Eddie's best bud is Johnny Ramone. And they've referenced Ted Nugent multiple times over the years. Most importantly: let's hope for that tour announcement soon :)

    Political tag at MSG? Lol

They went an entire 2016 tour, during the craziest election ever, and barely said a peep... that was by design... of course Ed did wait until he got to Toronto to rail on an old fat guy who drove around the rock stars family

I liked his statement about climate change at the RRHOF... I loved that they actually had some social commentary on Lightning Bolt... because Backspacer had zero balls and didn't comment on anything of importance

I stand by my comment. They have definitely backed off politics at shows...

Of course that tends to happen when you play $20k dinners for the POTUS, who is buddy enough to stop by your house while on vacation...

Maybe Ed only wants to talk politics when a Republican is in office?
