Corduroy has that weird hamfisted "tincture" line.

all 4 great songs,,but all 4 are not my favo songs or i believe i the best from their album..
only way to vote has to do with the meaning of the lyrics deliver..so..i ll not vote for release and given to fly, whoare away better lyrically than the other 2 songs.........so..vote goes to..
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."

Hard to choose as everyone has noted.  No way I can vote for Release.  Corduroy and RVM are just the slightest bit above GTF for me.  I absolutely love GTF, so it shows what I think of all 4 of these.

If I ranked these 1-4 RVM would come up last every time. It's a great song and I love it live but it's #4 on this list.

Release is my favorite opener. GTF and Corduroy are staples that could and should get played at every show. Gotta pick something here and RVM is just the slightest of notches below the others for me.

    Me, too.

My first instinct is to vote against Given To Fly. It is an absolutely awesome/essential PJ song that I'd probably put into my top 10 but the other three are in my top 5. HOWEVER, my personal rankings are based on live performances (I never listen to studio albums these days) and I have already admitted that Release is a much better song live. Yet, speaking of live performances, I'm really not digging the new live versions of Corduroy (already discussed in previous round) so that hurts it a bit - but not enough to vote against it. As for RVM, I don't think I could vote against such a well-rounded PJ tune but was it truly the Vs. winner? It never had to go head-to-head against Animal in a final round.

This voting is ridiculous. Are people really thinking the studio version of Release is better than the other three? I'm just baffled by how it won Ten and now could win it all. Crazy. Great song, but definitely not their best of all time.
    It's a hopeless situation...

some vote on the merits of the song (writing, performance, if they prefer harder songs vs softer, etc), some vote with emotional significance. With Release, for me, it is undoubtedly the latter. Same with Oceans. Many people don't care for it because it's such a simple, and slow, composition. But the emotions it and Release get out of me are undeniable.

Kind of cool how this has turned out.  If a random friend were to ask me "hey I wanna check out Pearl Jam, what are their strongest 3 songs?"....I would probably answer with Release, RVM, and Corduroy

Also, PJ thrives at the mid to up tempo songs such as Corduroy, RVM, Unthought Known etc.  I think they're at their best at this tempo.

Sorry to see GTF losing ground.  A bit surprised to see release in it still.  That song always just seemed a little to histrionic to me.  But I assume others see it as passionate and how can you knock that?  Will be interesting to see how this goes.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

I thought it was a lock to survive this round and wanted to take heat off both RVM and Corduroy, which I want to win.
It was far too early in the voting to make a strategy vote, I got ahead of myself by a long measure lol

Hardest one yet. Thought I wouldn't be able to choose ... but went with this logic: Voted for Release because it shouldn't have been the champion from Ten.
