Also, reach out to loved ones, family and internet strangers every once in a while. Some may need a friend to take the first step.

Coming from a person that suffers from severe depression personally I can tell you that talking to someone always helps. There is a stigma in the United States for people who suffer with this disease and that is sad. I'm personally medicated and have gone to counseling in the past to deal with my own demons and depression. I've been blessed to have a family that saw signs in me and stepped in to make sure I got help I desperately needed about 12 years ago. It is however a never ending struggle and days like today are triggers. Today I sat down with my wife and spoke about how I was feeling and assure her that I was OK. I have two young daughters that I know we'll have to watch as they get older and talk to about this disease, since they are prone to it being it's a trait many of my family members deal with. No alcohol or CC music today for me, since it is too hard for me at this time. I saw Soundgarden 3 times, Audioslave 2 times, CC Solo 2 times and TOTD at PJ20 so I  will remember those good times today. RIP Chris and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family. :(

Talk to someone if you are feeling down. Thank you dtr0624 for starting this thread and if it can help one person then it is a great success. I'm also here if someone needs to talk.

This place has amazing people. You are all among them. And I echo the sentiments expressed. If anyone needs an ear, believe me, I've been in that dark place where it appears to be just one option, but it's not worth it.
Its always darkest where a light has just been put out, and we lost a huge light...but it will be okay.

I'm also always here for anyone who needs an ear.

ive battled depression and alcoholism for the last 7-10 years of my life. Personal counseling, my wife and AA have saved my life. Chris was always someone I looked up to since he was sober for an extended period of time, which isn't easy in the music industry.

there is no shame in asking for help!

So I read this yesterday but I've been so shaken by Chris that I couldn't comment. This post is amazing though aand so beautiful. Above and beyond the music, SG and PJ have given us a family and community and things like this are a tribute to them. Thanks for posting this and being so thoughtful in this time which is hard for so many. Damn I love my PJ fam!

I'm in the Chicago Area.  Let's have lunch and commiserate.  I'm there if you need it, just a normal non-judgmental dude who's good at listening.  Not gonna try to "change" you or "fix" you, just gonna support you.
    Be well.
    All the best,
    Chris.
