    My wife and I were talking about this today.  She thought (and was horrified at the thought) that half the people in the U.S. were still behind Trump.  I didn't think so.  I looked it up and the various polls run something like 32% to 36% approval-- about a third.  But still, DAMN that's still a lot of people!  How can that many people not see the obvious?  Pretty amazing.

    But it's not all about believing the news is Fake.  For some, they are happy he is upsetting the political world.  They are happy that congresspeople are upset and the media is upset cause thats what they wanted him to do.  They believed Washington was broken and are happy with him breaking it up.  The problem is, like everything else he has done pretty much, there was no plan for what it should be like.  Just break it up.....kinda like Repeal with no idea how to replace.....

    my very politically astute father in law stated at last night's TG dinner that if another election were held tomorrow, Trump would win again. His basis for this is that America is still largely rural, and that's where Trump's base comes from. My take is, the 50% of people who didn't fucking vote in Nov 2016 would get off their asses and vote. And I can't fathom that it would go in his favour.

    I agree. Mind you, I am always wary now of saying things like "no way in hell...." where it relates to Trump. I said that repeatedly up until the election. dead wrong. so every time I think it, I kind of think about it for a moment.

    If it was against Hillary?  He'd win again.  

    Against Bernie?  He'd probably win.

    Against...uh...crap, the Dems don't really have a deep bench.  

    Their motivation is not maxed out...they are still as crazed as ever.  The Dems better find someone that can actually bring people to the polls in 2020 or we're looking at eight years.  "Not Trump" really should be enough, but it's not.  Right now, it looks like re-election...but obviously it's a long way off and hopefully some good candidate emerges that can make it interesting.
