Cool article posted today on Modern Vinyl, didn't see it mentioned yet. They review/discuss the album AFTER the band's "big" record. Neat little review...

I read an article that said "if Pearl Jam had made YIELD after Ten they'd be bigger than U2"

Interesting thought. Certainly would be interesting to see how Yield would have done as a direct follow-up to Ten, but if they were U2, I don't think many of us would be here. And who knows if they ever go back to make albums with the style and energy of Vs and Vitalogy, and those are the ones that hooked me and many others. Quite literally, they may not be Pearl Jam at all if things hadn't gone the way they did.

I actually kind of thought it was interesting the way the article framed Ten as a transitional piece in their evolution between MLB and PJ and that Vs is a proper Pearl Jam record. Never thought of it that way. I'd be curious to hear the band reflect on that, especially with 25 years of retrospect.

I remember the article but it said something along the lines of : if Pearl Jam had made yield after vitalogy they would have been bigger than U2.

    Cool article op.

Makes sense. No Code was a "challenging" record for that time and, as many of you know, brought the band down a notch or two in the eyes of the "general masses" (which, of course, is what they wanted). I don't think they ever had any desire to be U2.
