I remember the first time I heard this song...

^^^^^It's for sure a masterpiece but, I don't hear the Beatles at all? It's all Townshend power chords to me! That's totally cool though that you hear the Beatles!

There are a couple, but most the song is open chords. I'm not hearing a lot of Townshend in it. Now breakerfall is another story

The way I play it there is one power chord towards the end.

The ending of the song, the Bm progression, reminds me of The Who but the main part of the song reminds me of The Beatles more. Especially when Ed plays the main riff on sitar.

Totally underrated song. Greater closer to an album. Sad/delicate/yet takes off at the end.

Although I think the album version is much better than live version. The softer vocals are perfect on the album.

It really is great...It's got tough competition for the title of "best album closer," however, with the likes of Release and Indifference out there - and I still think of Immortality as a closer (even though it's not).

I didn't realize it wasn't a full PJ version for years because I received a CD-R of the '95 Aussie radio show and that was one of the added songs to fill space on disc 2 along with I See Red, Take A Walk and Stuff and Nonsense.

I hear repeated power chords at the end of this amazing song and although not quite the fury that Behind Blue Eyes closes with this song very much reminds me of that WHO masterpiece!
