    Now, about those Rubles

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Trump supporters have so far believed everything he had to say, so if he says it's the Democrats' fault, they might believe him.
    .
This is true. There is a large group who believes anything Trump, Rush, and Brietbart spoonfeed them

However, I do think it is eroding.... and the opposition is growing/actuating. Those poll number that came out this week are very dreary for Trump. I believe a few more of his fans will jump off due to this. Slowly but surely.

Dems need to introduce some ACA reforms for optics immediately. Fix what's broken

Yes. Such a bill would also go down in flames but for optics I think this would be a good idea. I don't think anyone believes the ACA is a perfect program functioning smoothly. So show you're willing to work on it.
    Exactly

Trump going on a tirade about how obamacare is exploding and saying the losers are Pelosi and Schumer. amazing...

He is begging the democrats to come up with a solution! This is amazing.

Okay, Mr, President. Let's do it...

I agree completely..But they need to make a big presser out of it. They should have done it before, even if it gets killed in committee. Put it on record and run on it.
    Great suggestions all around.

Blamed democrats when they have every level of government and a majority in the house. Even said THEY need to come up with a plan.

Like, I have recently been thinking, maybe I am wrong, maybe they aren't completely dysfunctional and perhaps they know what they are doing (outside of the WH, obviously), but no, nope, they are a bunch of imbeciles
I don't see how Ryan survives as speaker.
To me, this was such a predictable scenario. Trump and the Republican Party are two entities who have been using each other so long as it was convenient. From a publicity perspective, once again Trump's handled this brilliantly. If this gets passed, he takes credit for repealing ObamaCare ("I have unified the various levels of government and done what I promised"). If it doesn't, he gets to claim plausible deniability in having any say in the creation of the bill, and Ryan falls on his sword. With the clear harm to ACA subscribers, Trump's move to distance himself from the bill was wise. Trump walks away from this unscathed, Ryan walks away from it looking weaker - but what about the Republicans as a Party? BS, I'm certainly not aware of the 'sectarian' (at a lack of a better term) divisions within the Republican Party, but I'm curious to hear your opinion on whether this harms them.

What is sad to me is that Trump has continued to show that perception and image matter much more to him than quality control (he couldn't master steaks or education, so seeing him endorse what he originally described as a "wonderful" health care plan doesn't hugely surprise me). I don't think that impacts his ability to get things done or gains/loses him any power, but I do feel that it's a net loss for the country.
I actually don't have the answer right now and I think it remains an open question. The first thing is whether this failure freezes and/or prevents the GOP from moving ahead on other items. It was suggested that Tax reform cannot happen without changes to Obamacare but I have zero idea whether that is true or not. If other agenda items are able to move forward then this shouldn't hurt the GOP too much. The Gorsuch confirmation will certainly be a plus but that cannot be it. Trump was promising bold changes and most specifically with respect to jobs and the economy. In the end "the economy stupid" will be the biggest determination in his and the GOP's future success and/or failure but Obamacare plays a role in that due to it's impact on small business/employment. So there is certainly a chance for harm but it is not the be all and end all "if" they are able to move ahead in other areas. Passing Ryan/Trumpcare just to have a "win" is really a silly way of thinking and I lean more towards the Tom Cotton perspective which is "better to do this right rather than fast". Obamacare was a "win" for Obama which then led to massive electoral defeats...what Republican could want that kind of win? In the short term the narrative of "Trump the deal maker" takes a hit but there should be plenty more deals to make.

Part of the reason those poll number were dreary is that the conservative base did not want this bill. They don't think it went far enough. They are celebrating it's defeat. Also in terms of "spoonfeeding" most of you don't even realize that much of conservative media was actually against the bill...even Rush was not fully on board. A lot actually argued over the past week that it would be better for Trump if this plan was shelved. Trump pushed for the bill and the base didn't accept the spoon-feeding.

In the end, "the economy stupid?" With unemployment below 5%? Someone pass me some of those brilliant alternate universe happy pills you're taking. These guys never had a plan nor the desire to replace Obamacare. How does that nothing burger taste? Well, I guess they can wait for Trump to totally tank the economy and then couch their argument that it's about the economy stupid. Despite Obamacare not killing jobs. Or having death panels.

Which of these are Tom "I'm a warrior hear me roar" Cotton's position on healthcare? That government mandates are unconstitutional? Or turning Medicare into vouchers? Or what? He's got no plan either.

Is Hillary in jail yet? Or has ISIS been defeated? How about the wall? Has it been built yet? All low hanging fruit and so much brilliant winning to come, right?

Just wait until the Russia investigation really gets going.

“The beauty,” Trump continued, “is that they own Obamacare. So when it explodes they come to us and we make one beautiful deal for the people.”

What a creep. He figures the "best thing" is to leave the American people with an "exploding" healthcare plan until it gets so fucking bad for the citizens he serves that his "enemies" are forced to negotiate? Wow. It's obviously not news that he doesn't have Americans' interests in mind in any way, but it can still be shocking to me just as a human being to see the POTUS blab it out like that without shame, which he has none of.

If the Dems are smart they'll almost immediately ask him to meet at the drawing table with actual good, responsible ideas that help people (sometimes I wonder if a single American politician has ever looked to the policies in other countries to draw from their ideas) ... and then the Reps can try to roadblock it all and drag it out, which is likely inevitable, and they still come off looking like the bad guys who wanted everyone's healthcare plan to collapse on them just to "win".

Brilliant leadership. Let them all fail. Dems should let them try to figure it out. Make them come to you. Remember, Obama reached across the aisle and even incorporated and or was willing to incorporate republican ideas that they were for before the radical, black, Muslim, Kenyan got elected. Not one single republican vote. Nor an ounce of cooperation on ANYTHING. Fuck them.

True, but I'm not sure I can really see any benefit to the Dems continuing down that path. Fuck the Reps indeed, but someone has to take the high road, and it's not like the Republicans are going to! Time for the American government to fucking grow up, drop the egos, and get some decent shit that doesn't hurt people done. Or at least time for some of them to, so everyone can gawk at the pricks who refuse (side note: at least a few Reps have been stand up people through this.... that's something I guess).
